Disney Dreamlight Valley Realms List: Frozen, Moana, Wall-E, And ... (GameSpot)

Realms can take you out of Dreamlight Valley and into new worlds to explore. Here's every Realm that's been announced so far.

We fully expect that to change over the next year in early access--and beyond. It's likely that these Realms will pull from many of the same (if not exactly the same) brands seen elsewhere in the game. At launch, Gameloft has announced four Realms, though the team has also suggested many more are on the way in free updates.

Whilst eating food items on the go can be a good method to keep your exploring going once you're later into the game, all you need to do early game is enter your home. Whilst you have the option to give a character any item that you have in your inventory, you'll spot that there is a small bar at the bottom of the gifting menu that displays specific items that the character would LOVE to receive. Even with the few characters you have at the very beginning of the game, ensure that you talk to everyone. At the beginning of the game, you don't have many inventory slots, or external places for storage, so it can be difficult choosing what to hold onto and what to discard. These are not automatically redeemed however, and take up a valuable slot in your Backpack, so any time you collect one, be sure to go immediately to your inventory and use it to receive the item.

Disney Dreamlight Valley beginner tips to get ahead fast (For The Win)

If you're jumping into Disney Dreamlight Valley for the first time, make sure to take these tips with you!

While you can use it to open doors to brand new worlds in the Dream Castle – very exciting – it’s often better used to grant you access to the areas outside of the town, which will also give you access to new characters and quests. You will get a bunch of rewards for completing these challenges, and the Dreamlight tasks in particular reward you with – you guessed it – Dreamlight, which allows you to explore further into the world, and through new doors in the Dream Castle. Make sure to open up your map whenever you open up a new area, or you need to find an NPC for a quest. Clothing is great and easy to collect, and you have the option of crafting a variety of furniture for your home, with a great deal of control on how and where you can place items. You will need a lot of money in order to upgrade the buildings in town, and selling to Goofy is the easiest way to get it all. A bit like Animal Crossing, one of the things you can do to express yourself in Disney Dreamlight Valley is customise both yourself, and your home.

These are where you find characters such as Remy and WALL-E and have the chance to invite them back to the village. Disney Dreamlight Valley forgives you for your cooking mistakes and always ensures you walk away from the stove with something useful, so there’s never any waste. Fishing is one of the best activities you can do in Dreamlight Valley. Look for the black, upright nodes around the edges of the meadow and the plaza for your best chance of finding rare gems. Eating a meal is the best way to recover your energy, but if you don’t have anything on hand or plan on saving ingredients for something else, just go home. It gives you a new place to shop, but more importantly, progressing Scrooge’s questline is necessary for unlocking house upgrades. It’s always a good idea to take a few entrees with you while you’re exploring and gathering materials. It may be tempting to do that with Goofy’s stall once it opens thanks to your initial investment – but you shouldn’t. Dreamlight Valley uses a stamina system, similar to other life sims, but it’s not quite as rigid as the likes of Stardew Valley. Occasionally, you’ll run across new items or recipes, indicated with a sparkly aura like the one you see around items in the wild. Make sure to save before putting your system in Sleep mode, as there's a high chance the software will crash when you wake it up again. It's also worth bearing in mind that the launch day update seems to have made Dreamlight Valley slightly more unstable on Switch.

11 Hours In, Dreamlight Valley Is Way More Than A Disney Animal ... (Kotaku)

Gameloft's newly released life-sim is filled with quests to do and famous Disney/Pixar characters to befriend.

You also can collect and grow resources that can be used to cook meals or make new furniture right from the get-go, something that New Horizons had to update with later on in its lifespan. It does, however, capture the key aspect that made Animal Crossing so successful in the first place: the gnawing sense that there’s just one more thing you can quickly accomplish, which quickly becomes two things, and suddenly you’ve lost track of time outright. But if you want to totally deck out your home and character in Disney content, don’t worry, there’s plenty of that too. Disney’s Dreamlight Valley is out now on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch. The real question I have now is: How will Dreamlight Valley evolve and grow moving forward? I’m only about 11 hours or so into Dreamlight Valley and I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface. While it helps that I already have shared history with the characters, the writing takes advantage of that familiarity to flesh out the characters in interesting ways, rather than providing one-note figures who can be reduced down to catchphrases, like in Animal Crossing. The first few hours of Dreamlight Valley are spent helping Merlin clean up the first area of the game while learning the controls and basic systems. Once you unlock your new rodent friend and bring him back to your village, you can help him open his restaurant. You can even take them with you as you go around and do daily tasks, and they’ll not only help you, but you’ll become better friends, too. The new game, out now in Early Access, combines the life-sim gameplay of Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley except with a deadly combination of famous Disney characters, films, and worlds. In this case, it’s something called “The Forgetting” which manifests as dark tendrils and thorny vines all around the valley.

Here's How To Make Crudites And Ratatouille In Disney Dreamlight ... (Kotaku Australia)

Most of the quests and tasks in Disney's Dreamlight Valley are fairly simple and straightforward, with characters like Goofy often telling you.

And also fight the urge to call Remy a rat bastard, and take solace in the idea that the critic might be having a nice memory of his childhood after your extended cooking-related suffering. To make crudites in Dreamlight Valley simply pop a single carrot into the pot and cook it. Just follow the recipe above and you’ll be good to go. Two specific character quests that might be giving you trouble involve the iconic Mickey Mouse and my personal favourite, Remy the rat from the wonderful Pixar film, Ratatouille. Instead of struggling as I did, let me just tell you how to make these two simple dishes. Most of the quests and tasks in Disney’s Dreamlight Valley are fairly simple and straightforward, with characters like Goofy often telling you exactly what to do or how to do it.

Something Is Kinda Wrong With Disney Dreamlight Valley's Version ... (Kotaku)

It's a classic Mickey Mouse design, but the eyes don't work the way they're supposed to.

It’s hard not to notice that something is off in the world of Dreamlight Valley, especially when you grow up with these characters. The Mickey Mouse design featured in Disney Dreamlight Valley is the standard if not classic scheme we’ve all come to know and love. And I apologize if you still can’t see it at all. I’m sorry if you didn’t notice this before and now you can’t unsee it, because like I said, it’s a small detail. The pupil, however, remains the same size. In my defense, though, Mickey Mouse is one of the most iconic and recognizable characters on earth, and video game graphics practically let you see into people’s pores now.

Disney Dreamlight Valley's Scrooge McDuck Is Way Worse Than ... (Kotaku Australia)

Maybe you've rolled your eyes at the modern interpretation of Tom Nook, Animal Crossing's capitalist overlord. You know, the one where people try.

It’s possible I’m getting him all wrong and that, with time, I come to find out he’s actually a pretty good dude underneath all the finance talk. Still, it’s hard not to balk a little at everything Scrooge wants me to do, precisely because of the type of character that he is. Why is it that he’s asking me to sell precious gemstones to Goofy’s stall, the marketplace that is typically booming with 1-dollar seedlings? I’m still fairly early on in the game, and I know all of this is supposed to be endearing if not fairly faithful to the actual character. To accomplish this, Scrooge demands that I put on A SHIRT OF HIS OWN FACE SO THAT THE OTHER VILLAGERS CAN SEE IT and remember, yes, the economy must never stop, even if 99% of my friends and family have possibly died. We’re here to rebuild and eventually, all the menacing thorns and spooky mists that are destroying everything will disappear so that we may once again worry ourselves with giving all our money to the rich.
