Who has the edge when when it comes to the heavyweight fight between Ciryl Gane and Tai Tuivasa? The Sporting News has you covered when it comes to betting ...
- Main event: 6 p.m. - Main card: 3 p.m. It would not be shocking to see an upset, but one has to think Gane has the edge on all fronts. Gane also has a six-inch reach advantage. That may not make the ultimate difference here, but it is something to keep an eye on. Gane has won two fights in the UFC via knockout. Tuivasa was taken down twice by Lewis in his last fight but was able to prosper in the end. Gane is a patient fighter who can pounce when needed. Gane [lands 4.83 strikes per minute](http://ufcstats.com/fighter-details/787bb1f087ccff8a) with 58 percent accuracy. Motivated and ready to impress his family and friends, Gane is looking to halt the momentum of the shoey-drinking Tuivasa. The fight will be in Gane’s backyard as the UFC heads to Paris for the first time. Tai Tuivasa will look to continue his epic run in the UFC's heavyweight division when he takes on former interim UFC heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane on Saturday, Sept.
UFC Paris kicked off with fighter weigh-ins, which took place earlier this morning, Friday September 2nd.

Welcome all to the Bloody Elbow staff picks for UFC Paris: Gane vs. Tuivasa. I (Tim Bissell) am inheriting this column from the irreplaceable Mookie ...
I’m picking him over the 25% wp Khalid Taha, who has had four fights in the UFC. But it’s not a power style and there aren’t a lot of secondary pieces to that game yet. On the other hand, I’m a bit concerned about the way Wood tends to hang around in the pocket after combinations and leave himself open for counters. A lot of this fight is dependent on how much Wood can get Jourdain going backwards, because Jourdain is fantastic when he’s leading the dance but he can struggle a bit when he’s pressured. They’ve got a lot of speed and both men have a serious willingness to sit down in the pocket and throw with power. Bissell: This is a fight between two UFC newcomers, so both have a UFC wp of 0. He entered the promotion with a solid base as a dynamic fast athlete with a developing boxing game and a competitive scrambling grappling ability on the mats. Makdessi is the more diverse striker but Haqparast has faster hands, is more powerful, and can pose problems for the Canadian with his southpaw stance. Unfortunately for Vettori, even as his boxing has improved over the years, he’s yet to really show himself as a power puncher and he’s got a pretty limited technical bag of tricks to draw from. Even though Whittaker’s lead in wp is just slight, I feel good about picking him because he has 18 contests in the Octagon, eight more than his Italian counterpart. and also I don’t want my last prediction as a member of the staff to be a wrong one. Zane Simon: This feels like a pretty simple fight to dissect, honestly, and can really be broken down to the fights both men had against Derrick Lewis.
Sean Zerillo breaks down Saturday afternoon's heavyweight main event between Ciryl Gane and Tai Tuivasa at UFC Paris (Accor Arena in France).
Tuivasa should start to slow between the seven to the 10-minute mark. And Gane rarely shoots early in his fights. Once Tuivasa starts to slow, Gane may have an easier path to victory on the mat. Gane is an extremely measured fighter who takes time to break down his opponents physically while avoiding danger. As a result, the fight ends inside the distance prop (projected -272, listed -250 at DraftKings) could be worth a look. However, even in the early stages, it’s difficult to envision Tuivasa winning minutes. Moreover, Gane wins by submission (projected +492, listed +500 at Fanduel) caught my attention. He had no issue executing a similar game plan against powerful strikers like Derrick Lewis and Jairzhinho Rozenstruik, and he should be able to run circles around the more plodding heavyweights. He offers a crisp jab and some powerful teep kicks to keep distance, and he should have a significant speed advantage in any extended striking exchanges. Gane returns following his first career loss, which came to Francis Ngannou in January. 1 contender – and former interim champion – Ciryl Gane. 4/12/1990

Better known by his nickname "Fly," Brazilian lightweight Gabriel Miranda is set to make his UFC debut this Saturday at the UFC's first event in France.
[Tapology](https://www.tapology.com/fightcenter/fighters/36548-gabriel-miranda-fly), Miranda is the No. Miranda (16-5) is a spectacular submission artist, amassing an astonishing 15 of his 16 victories with his jiu jitsu skills. Just like Miranda, Saint-Denis has all but one of his wins by submission, so fans can expect a grappling affair.
Ahead of UFC Paris Danny Podolsky sat down with Gabriel Miranda to get his thoughts before he makes his UFC debut.
Miranda: Honestly it will be the fight of the night, he’s motivated to be fighting at home and I’m making my debut. And now it’s time for a new phase and new goals, and the first will be to win in my debut. Both of us are eager to do our best and that will enhance the event. Gabriel Miranda (16-5 overall, 0-0 in the UFC) finally gets to make his UFC debut on the road on Saturday. Benoit Saint-Denis (9-1 overall, 1-1 in the UFC) will have the crowd on his side as the Frenchman makes his third walk to the UFC octagon. I had the pleasure of interviewing Miranda ahead of his UFC Paris debut and here were his responses.
Dana White's Contender Series alumni Cristian Quinonez is finally making his octagon debut at UFC Paris: Ciryl Gane vs. Tai Tuivasa this Saturday.
Standing at 5’8, Quinonez is ranked as [Tapology](https://www.tapology.com/fightcenter/fighters/69208-christian-quionez-el-taylon)‘s No. [Dana White’s Contender Series](https://fansided.com/2022/08/23/dwcs-mick-parkin-eduardo-neves-live-results/). Cristian Quinonez took his first professional mixed martial arts bout at the ripe age of 17.
Benoit Saint-Denis is confident he will control the fight against Gabriel Miranda at the UFC's debut in France.
I’m in my weight class, so I’m going to do what I can to climb up the rankings and just to become something great in the lightweight division.” “The UFC gave me a top-15 (opponent) right away in the welterweight division, so there was an 8-kilogram difference between me and Elizeu. “I think it’s going to be a fight with a lot of engagement because we have similarities in some stuff,” Saint-Denis said.
