Starter Sergio Asenjo made a massive error late last weekend allowing Sevilla to level the score at 1-1 and earn a draw. The introduction of young winger Ansu Fati was critical to the 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad last weekend, but he begins yet again on the bench. Young left-back Alex Balde played very well against Real Sociedad, starting over Jordi Alba, and could be given another opportunity to be a difference-maker. Kounde struggled at times as he earned minutes in the midweek charity friendly against Man City, it will be interesting to see how he performs against Real Valladolid. He had moments of brilliance, such as this incredible run to assist a goal by Pedro back in May of 2010. It will take a heroic effort for the newly-promoted side to buck that trend today! The Catalan club were held to a scoreless draw in the season's opening match before improving marginally in the subsequent 4-1 win over Real Sociedad. Meanwhile, Valladolid were blasted by Villarreal 3-0 in their first fixture back in the Spanish top-flight, but they managed a turnaround with a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Sevilla in Matchweek 2. A fantastic cross from Raphinha on the right met the head of Lewandowski who rose high to snag it. The Blaugrana, therefore, will look to improve form quickly before the group stage begins in early September.

A fantastic cross from Raphinha on the right met the head of Lewandowski who rose high to snag it. CM: Pedri - 7/10 - Gorgeous first-time finish to double Barça's advantage in the first half. An outstanding finish to add his fourth goal in Barça colours this season and only the crossbar prevented him from sealing his hat-trick. Carried a real swagger and his overlaps down the left-hand side caused Valladolid several problems. Didn't show much attacking endeavour which is understandable, but his defensive positioning was sound and he made a great goalline clearance in the second period. Dominant in his defensive duels to allow Lewandwoski then put the game beyond doubt to grab his second goal of the evening. Having been taken wide, Lewandowski produced an exquisite finish with his heel that trickled into the far bottom corner. His endeavour was rewarded in the 23rd minute as Raphinha turned provider once again. Eric Garcia went close shortly after the restart from a corner. The Poland international was causing the Real Valladolid defence issues aplenty in the opening exchanges and he teed up Ousmane Dembele shortly after inside the penalty area. Dembele dribbled inside from the right this time, skipping through several Real Valladolid challenges before space opened up for Pedri inside the penalty area. Lewandowski's movement was excellent, but he could only divert his header off the post.
