NSW Police say the former MP was served with a court attendance notice via his lawyer after an incident with a TV camera operator last month.

The ex-Monaro MP withdrew from the trade commissioner role soon after his appointment was announced due to a public and political backlash. Giving evidence before a parliamentary inquiry into his appointment as NSW's trade and investment commissioner to the Americas this month, Mr Barilaro said his life after politics had been a "personal hell".
