But the omission of Daicos is, for that reason, even more bizarre, given he had what some experts are saying may have been the best first-year season in the game's recent history. "The list of players in the wider squad was expanded to ensure it recognised elite performers across the home and away season," an AFL statement read. Collingwood young gun Nick Daicos has been snubbed from a 44-man All-Australian squad named for the 2022 season.

Kelly and Taylor Named in All Australian Squad (GWS Giants)

After outstanding individual seasons, Josh Kelly and Sam Taylor have been named in the 2022 Australia All Australian squad.

He also ranked fourth across the league for time on field. An All-Australian jacket would be a fitting reward for Taylor who has been in career best form and has quickly emerged as one of the best defenders in the game. Kelly had another impressive season in the midfield and will be looking to secure his second All-Australian call up, while Taylor has not previously been selected.

All Australian 2022: Five players unlucky to miss the squad (Sporting News AU)

Since the releasing of the 44-man All-Australian squad, fans have quickly realised that some of their favourite players are missing, with some considered to ...

Despite being behind Charlie Cameron, Tyson Stengle and the line, the GWS captain was one of the few shining lights for the year and could be argued to be included in the All-Australian squad alongside teammates Sam Taylor and Josh Kelly. The 28-year-old has proven to be one of the elite ball users in the competition and is always prepared to do the hard work for his teammates. Mitchell also used the 23-year-old across the half back as well as in the midfield, providing him valuable experience as the Hawks attempt to bounce back from a 13th place finish. One of only two players to average a goal and 20 possessions a game, Hawthorn's Dylan Moore has gone under the radar of selectors, despite having a career best season. Arguably the biggest snub of 2022, Carlton's Sam Docherty has been a revelation both off the half back and more recently in the midfield. In an attempt to redeem some of the missed calls made by the selectors, we will go through the five players unlucky to miss the All-Australian squad:
