Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 vs. Z Fold 3 comparison: what's the ... (The Verge)

Samsung's new ultra-flagship foldable phone is real and coming very soon. But how does the new Galaxy Z Fold 4 stack up to the outgoing Z Fold 3?

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 S Pen Fold Edition S Pen Fold Edition All of these changes to the Z Fold 4 still come at the same price as the outgoing model, meaning it starts at $1,799.99 with 256GB of storage. The Z Fold 4, much like the S22 generation, offers numerous small improvements that iterate upon the last model. That said, the new Z Fold 4 maintains a lot of the improvements of last year’s Fold 3, like that IPX8 resistance, a 7.6-inch folding OLED, and a skinny yet usable outside cover screen — which are now cheaper to repair in the event of an accident. Last year’s Z Fold 3 helped break new ground in terms of folding phone normalcy with features like water resistance, which still pales in comparison to traditional slab phones. After seeing incremental changes and updates to the Galaxy S22 line in February, it’s now the ultra-flagship Galaxy Z Fold’s turn. Here, we’re comparing them spec for spec to see just how different Samsung’s upcoming Fold is.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 vs Galaxy S22 Ultra: Which flagship ... (TrustedReviews)

Samsung recently announced the Galaxy Z Fold 4, but how does the phone compare to Samsung's flagship non-foldable, the Galaxy S22 Ultra?

The flagship phone also comes with an S Pen in the box, making it a great option for note takers who don’t want to pay extra for a stylus. These include the ability to view multiple windows at once and a new Taskbar that offers fast access to your favourite apps. We found the S22 Ultra’s battery life to be good but nothing groundbreaking. There’s also a more up to date processor on board. The specs aren’t far off what are found in the S22 Ultra and the bigger screen offers interesting advantages for multitasking and photo taking. The foldable includes a 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, a 50-megapixel wide angle sensor and a 10-megapixel telephoto sensor. When it comes to the design of these phones, which one is bigger depends on whether or not the Z Fold 4 is folded. We found the display to be bright and offer fantastic detail in our review. The S22 Ultra, meanwhile, measures 77.9 x 163.3 x 8.9mm. That puts it somewhere in between the Z Fold 4’s folded and unfolded measurements in all three dimensions. However, you’ll have to wait until our full review to hear our verdict on whether it delivers. There’s also a 6.2-inch HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover screen with a resolution of 2316 x 904 and 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The screen is HDR10+ certified and, like the Fold, boasts a 120Hz refresh rate.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 hands-on: The fun-size foldable (Android Central)

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is shorter and wider than its predecessor, slims up the bezels, packs in the Galaxy S22's cameras, and even charges faster than ...

This thing feels like a complete powerhouse because of it and I absolutely love it. I tried using Nova Launcher for a while — which has been a favorite of mine for years and works fine — but the taskbar doesn't pull these shortcuts from third party launchers. The left side is a mirror of the apps you have pinned on the Samsung One UI home screen, while the right side shows the last two apps used. Tap and drag an icon to any side or corner of the display, and you can split up to three apps on the display at a time. Without taking a bunch of pictures from the phone, I can't comment much on a quality increase, but am hoping the new design helps in all lighting situations this time around. Before we open up the phone, I want to stop around the back for a quick tour of the new camera hardware. That Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 inside the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is notably faster than what's inside even the Galaxy S22 Ultra and, probably more importantly, it's a much more efficient and cooler chipset, too. The Z Fold series has always been a bit of a brick since the beginning, so it's good to see improvement in this area. Unfortunately, that new hinge also doesn't change the shape of the phone when closed. The difference is a bit more obvious on the smaller front display, and should ensure it's more comfortable to use when folded closed. I got to go hands-on with the Galaxy Z Fold 4 in New York City at a special press event, and came away with pictures and impressions of what's likely the best foldable phone (opens in new tab) yet. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 tightens up last year's design by lowering the height of the phone by a few millimeters to make it a bit more compact, reducing the weight in the process.
