Though the gaps in attack are what I’ve focused on here, the organization of their defense is likely to be the central tell against Liverpool. Can Fulham stay compact and organized all while taking any and all chances Liverpool give them? Liverpool on opening day should prove to be a test of adapted grit for the runaway champions. Fulham have been dealt a blow there in addition to the loss of Carvalho: Harry Wilson has suffered a pre-season injury that will see him sidelined. Fulham have been a yo-yo club in recent years, and a major part of the reason for that is Mitrović’s seeming inability to get anything close to his Championship goal tally in the top division. Thanks to us, they have a Fábio Carvalho-shaped hole in their attack (he scored the second-most goals [12] last season, and was also there and thereabouts in terms of assists and chances created). It’s possible that Fulham are aiming to replace Carvalho’s creativity via new signing Andreas Pereira (yes, that Andreas Pereira: signed from Manchester United, fresh off a loan from Flamengo where he committed the error that cost them the Copa Libertadores), but we shall see. Liverpool again start the season away against newly-promoted opposition, and, as ever, it’s difficult to evaluate Fulham in the context of the top tier.
Liverpool will kickstart their 2022-23 Premier League campaign with a clash against newly promoted Fulham at the Craven Cottage on Saturday.
Former Chelsea midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah is also set to miss the start of the season with an injury. Ibrahima Konate, Curtis Jones, Kostas Tsimikas, Diogo Jota and Caoimhin Kelleher are all out of the game against Fulham. Ahead of what promises to be an interesting battle at Craven Cottage, GOAL has listed all the information you need below.
There's no reason to panic for Liverpool, but after dropping points Jurgen Klopp may need to make adjustments.
Nunez in front of Firmino can help make up for the issues pressing while giving Diaz another focal point in attack as things are too predictable when Salah is the only target that teams need to worry about. They certainly didn't bank on this point being one of the 40 that they'd need to survive the season. Before the break it was Fulham that were close to scoring, as Neeskens Kebano struck the post, but the introduction of Harvey Elliott and Darwin Nunez changed how Liverpool approached things. Despite his issues on the defensive end of the pitch, where he's not nearly the pressing presence that Firmino can be at his best, his performance is why Klopp doesn't need to worry too much about this result. Luis Diaz and Jordan Henderson did hit the post so on another day, things could've gone differently but when Fulham are out pressing Liverpool, that's not a good look for the team expected to be in the thick of the title race. Right out of the gate, Andreas Pereira was pressing high up the pitch giving Liverpool fits when they looked to build from the back, while João Palhinha was stout at the base of midfield winning three tackles and notching an interception.

With one game down and just 379 to go, the new Premier League season continues with Fulham welcoming Liverpool to Craven Cottage. It’s a daunting prospect for west London side, whose manager Marco Silva bemoaned the lack of new faces in his squad earlier this week. Kick-off at Craven Cottage is at 12.30pm but stay tuned in the meantime for team news and build-up. In the absence of Harry Wilson, Neeskens Kebano starts for Fulham. Recently arrived from Arsenal, goalkeeper Bernd Leno is among the substitutes, with Marek Rodak starting between the sticks. Kick-off is just a few handshakes, a coin-toss away and a shrill blast of referee Madley’s whistle away. He overhits his pass and sends the ball bouncing wide. They win a corner when Joel Matip puts the ball out of play.

Liverpool begin their 2022/23 Premier League campaign with a trip to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham this lunchtime. Here are the confirmed line-ups:
Thiago Alcantara joins Fabinho and Henderson in midfield so James Milner and Harvey Elliot have to settle for places on the bench. Andrew Robertson starts at left-back once again for Liverpool but Kostas Tsimikas isn’t available due to a knock that he picked up in training this week. Trent Alexander-Arnold will be looking to start the season on a positive note as he lines-up at right-back for Liverpool.
Aleksandar Mitrovic scored either side of a Darwin Nunez flick before Mohamed Salah salvaged a point for a below-par Liverpool.
Soon subbed off for Milner after the break.5/10 Darwin Nunez – An early second-half introduction, replacing Firmino. Arguably should have shot when opting to play the ball across goal, but moments after seeing one flick saved, a second attempt found the net, after Tosin’s touch played it onto Nunez’s heel. Thiago – Arguably the pick of Liverpool’s starting midfielders, found his range early on and almost assisted Diaz in the first half. Jordan Henderson – Went down under a challenge from Palhinha and was on the floor clutching his left foot as Fulham scored their opener. A greater threat in the second half going forward. Andy Robertson – Blocked Reed’s effort moments before Mitrovic gave Fulham the lead. At fault for Liverpool’s second goal, however, heading it back to Nunez. 7/10 Joel Matip – With Ibrahima Konate out injured, a chance for Matip to have a run in the team. Trent Alexander-Arnold – Sloppy pass gifted Mitrovic a huge early chance, and later in the first half was no match for Fulham’s No 9, who got the better of Alexander-Arnold in the air to head in the opener. Andreas Pereira – After a spate of loan spells away from Manchester United, Pereira made the permanent switch to Fulham last month and goes straight into their starting line-up. The drama wasn’t over, though, and Liverpool had their second equaliser when Tim Ream’s header found Nunez, who had the simple task of squaring it to Salah for the tap-in. Nunez then had the audacity to try two flicks in a matter of minutes.
