So there is a certain irony that it will end with a “new” Black Panther, even if it was mostly due to unfortunate circumstances. Kevin Feige just announced that Black Panther 2 will be the end of “Phase Four,” with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania kicking off “Phase Five” early next year. We now have a Black Panther sequel without the character who was “the Black Panther” last time out. It’s the one that had a massive fanbase of moviegoers who otherwise wouldn’t care that much about Marvel. We know this because it earned more than three out of four Avengers movies worldwide and more than any Star Wars movie save for The Force Awakens in unadjusted domestic earnings, outgrossing every solo superhero movie, including The Dark Knight. So it’s a little bemusing that Black Panther 2, Avatar 2 and Aquaman 2 will all open within a few months of each other. Right on time, and just under four months until the November 11, 2022 release date, we’ve got the first trailer for Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Offhand, it looks like a visual dynamo, with some amusing visual similarities to Avatar. Yes, that’s a compliment, as it wasn’t entirely a coincidence that Black Panther was the biggest-grossing non-sequel since Avatar nine years earlier.
It also introduces the characters Ironheart, who takes on the Iron Man legacy, and Namor, the undersea ruler of Atlantis.
“I promise I can feel his hand on me now. And he grabbed my left shoulder with his hand. Danai Gurira's Okoye is seen keeping a stiff upper lift, continuing her stoic duties as head of the Dora Milaje.

While Wakandans like Shuri (Wright), Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), and Okoye (Danai Gurira) are seen mourning and seemingly trying to figure out how they’re going to move on, the trailer also spotlights a new group of amphibian humanoids — one of whom is born with winged feet. In Marvel’s comics, the kingdoms of Wakanda and Atlantis have clashed on a number of occasions to calamitous effect as their respective monarchs’ egos clashed. Along with M’Baku (Winston Duke), Ayo (Florence Kasumba), and the rest of the Dora Milaje, Riri Williams (Dominque Thorne) is seen gearing up for the battle Wakanda’s about to face, and judging from the trailer’s shots of mayhem they’re going to need her help.

The Guardians of the Galaxy will also come to an end in the midst of Phase 5 in May. The film is due to arrive in theatres in November this year and serve as a conclusion to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 4. Four years after the acclaimed first 'Black Panther' film, the MCU is returning to Wakanda - and a sneak peek just dropped at San Diego Comic-Con.
Obviously, more caped-crusader stories are still in the works, though, with the Disney-owned entertainment behemoth also plotting out its plans across phase five and phase six, taking it up to 2025. Marvel released the initial sneak peek at the eagerly awaited movie during this year's San Diego Comic-Con, and it's big on swirling, swelling feelings. With Chadwick Boseman sadly passing away in 2020, the sequel to 2018's excellent Black Panther obviously isn't the film that returning writer/director Ryan Coogler ( Creed) originally intended.

Their vigilantism caused fairly significant political upheaval in Wakanda and led to its semi-democratization at the end of Ta-Nehisi Coates’ run. Thorne is in two shots in the trailer: in one, she’s greeting Shuri in Shuri’s lab the same way that Boseman’s T’Challa did in the first Black Panther movie. We get one glimpse from behind of someone in the Black Panther armor at the end of the trailer. The first and biggest news is Namor’s arrival in the MCU. Played by Tenoch Huerta, Namor McKenzie (yes, that is actually his last name in the comics) is the son of a human father and an Atlantean princess, raised to be the king of the undersea people. T’Challa met Namor before he became Black Panther, and had him marked as a potential threat, and following decades of friction between the two nations, Namor, given a fifth of the power of the Phoenix during Avengers vs. It introduces several new characters and sets the stage for one of the most emotional chapters in MCU history.
