Now, only time and space will tell what else joins the fray. Now, as part of a huge slate of announcements at Comic-Con, it’s been confirmed when Phase 4 ends, when Phase 5 begins, and how many entries are coming next. Marvel Studios has officially taken over San Diego Comic-Con for the first time in three years after a dozen projects have hit theaters and Disney+ in Phase 4 alone.
Marvel Studios has dropped the official slate for MCU Phase 5, and it features Blade, Captain America 4, Disney+'s Daredevil and more.
Additionally, the newly renamed Agatha: House of Chaos is set to drop in either winter 2023 or spring 2024. The Marvels will arrive in its previously announced July spot and make way for Marvel’s Ironheart TV show in the fall. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige unveiled the Phase 5 slate for the Marvel Cinematic Universe at San Diego Comic-Con.
But perhaps the most important detail is what happened after the “Secret Wars”: Marvel Studios effectively rebooted, launching “all-new, all-different” versions of many of its most beloved titles, as some (but not all) characters from the 616 an 1610 universes found themselves living within a somewhat rebooted timeline. “WandaVision” head writer Jac Schaeffer will write and executive produce the show. Given the title, it’s safe to presume that Majors’ Kang the Conqueror is the Thanos (or maybe a Thanos) of the Multiverse Saga. What we learned: After her introduction in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) will star in her own Disney+ series. What we learned: Original launched as part of the Netflix slate of Marvel TV series (which were nominally part of the MCU), Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock is being (fully) brought into the Marvel Studios fold with a Disney+ series that is getting an unprecedented 18-episode order for its first season. — and a release date that gives the film the prime position for Marvel’s 2024 film slate. What we learned: Phase 5 ends with Marvel’s answer to DC’s Suicide Squad: A team up film about a bunch of MCU anti-heroes. What we learned: Nothing more than the release period for the series that spins off “Hawkeye” antagonist Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) into her own spin-off. Chukwudi Iwuji (formerly of DC’s “Peacemaker”) plays the High Evolutionary, and introduced himself to Hall H in character (implying that he played a role in Rocket’s transformation). Feige also gave a brief glimpse into what is coming in Phase 6, which is scheduled to conclude in Nov. 2025 with “Avengers: Secret Wars” — which Feige says caps off the Multiverse Saga of the MCU. What we learned: A legal comedy with a touch of “Fleabag,” this Disney+ series starring Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters (i.e. Bruce Banner’s cousin) boasts a cavalcade of superheroes who need a good lawyer — who is also giant and green. There was nary a mention of this critically adored series, but pictures from set have been fluttering across the internet as of late.

While we knew that movies like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the fourth Captain America, and Blade were on the horizon, what wasn’t yet clear was what sort of larger story they were all building towards. Agatha Harkness’ (Kathryn Hahn) solo series has gotten a small re-titling and an official release window, neither of which reveal all that much about what will become of the hexed witch given what became of Wanda Maximoff in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Feige also confirmed that Kingpin, who appeared in that Netflix Daredevil series and again in the Disney+ show Hawkeye, will be the main antagonist in Born Again. Marvel dropped a sneak peak of the third Ant-Man film for fans at Comic-Con. At the beginning of the movie, Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang (Ant-Man) has written a book about how he helped save the world. At the last MCU Comic-Con panel in 2019, Mahershala Ali announced that he would play the iconic role of Blade, the vampire hunter. In the comics, the Secret Wars storyline terminated many universes in the multiverse, save fan-favorite strands, essentially hitting the reset button on the whole of Marvel comics. (Wanda has canonically been both an X-Men and an Avenger in the comics. During the panel at Comic-Con, Kevin Feige hinted that Kang the Conquerer may serve a similar purpose in Phases 5 and 6 of the MCU. He invited actor Jonathan Majors onstage and introduced him as the villainous genius who wants to conquer the multiverse. According to Feige, the future lineup of movies and television shows from Marvel will still leave room for more standalone stories. "Some of the films and shows will connect, some of them won’t. I think it’s just as important that we can have standalone introductory stories like Ms. Marvel, like Moon Knight, in addition to things that interconnect and build towards the larger story. So some of the tags will connect, some of them won’t. " "Well, I think the truth is...

Thunderbolts will serve as the end for Phase 5 and previous MCU villains rumored to appear are Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), John Walker aka U.S Agent (Wyatt Russell), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko) and Abomination (Tim Roth). The upcoming Disney+ series will see Nick Fury and Talos (Ben Mendelsohn's character from Captain Marvel) team up to unravel a conspiracy in which the shapeshifting aliens known as Skrulls have invaded the highest levels of Earth's governments. Regardless, the appearance of Julia Louis-Dreyfus's Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in Falcon and the Winter Soldier should have made it quite obvious that this team-up of villains would happen sooner or later. Ironheart will focus on Dominique Thorne's Riri Williams aka Ironheart. Filming began in early June with Sam Bailey (You're So Talented) and Angela Barnes set to direct. Most of these phase 5 projects have been in the pipeline now for a while, with some new projects rumored to be getting their own announcements. Not much is known so far about the show as it hasn't even hit production yet.
