Time may move slowly in Virgin River, but it's been a full calendar year since we last visited the Netflix series' titular locale.

You see, Mel was pretty convinced that her split from Jack in Season 3 was going to be permanent, so she (perhaps hastily) had her and Mark’s frozen embryos implanted in her uterus during a trip home. But...

One of our biggest questions about Virgin River is finally answered in season 4 as it's revealed who shot Jack in the season 2 finale.

In the flashback, we get transported back to that night at the bar and see Vince show up to confront Preacher. Jack’s there, and seems cautious, picking up a big knife to defend himself. Vince shoots Jack, and leaves the bar. As you remember, Virgin River season 2 ends on a major cliffhanger when Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) arrives at the bar and finds Jack lying on the floor after being shot.

Despite the idyllic exterior, Virgin River still manages to pack in plenty of small-scale drama, and season 4 is no different. However, you can still visit the town in question! Brady has insisted to everyone that he was innocent; even some of the fans think he's probably not the real culprit. Jack survived the attempted killing, but he doesn't remember who it was that shot him, and we've been desperate for the shooter's identity to be revealed ever since. Virgin River season 4 is the latest installment of Netflix's hit romantic drama. Either way, we think we might finally find out the father's identity, as Sue has teased that Charmaine's in for some sort of major revelation during season 4. Although Hope spent season 3 looking after her sick aunt, she's back in Virgin River for the fourth outing, as showrunner Sue Tenney confirmed she would be returning way back in July last year. At the end of season 2, Mel was heartbroken when she found Jack bleeding out on the floor of his bar with a gunshot wound. Plus, Charmaine is now vying for custody with Jack now that she's married Todd, so there's even more at stake between her and Jack.

With season 4 on the horizon, we figured now is as good a time as any to start thinking about the Virgin River season 5 release date.
