Not all of the intersecting narratives work either and the writing can be construed as laughable or lazy at its worst. Another area that Virgin River excels in is their depiction of PTSD and the recovery of the veteran soldier. It can be quite clichéd and routine in its delivery, but Virgin River often surprises you with engaging plotting and some genuinely emotive scenes. Streaming behemoths Netflix like to cover all the many bases of the pop culture spectrum and with Virgin River they have the daytime drama genre down to a T. This quintessential soap opera follows the day-to-day lives of the titular community’s wholesome residents. Season four continues to build upon previous instalments, focusing on a handful of Virgin River’s most beloved townsfolk. Delivering a comforting slice of small town America with stunning visuals and your bog standard melodramatic theatrics.

One symptom is “forgetfulness and impaired judgment,” which Denny seemed to have in his early interactions with Lizzie. For example, he didn’t remember telling Lizzie that theater was “not really [his] thing,” and was surprised when she mentioned it to him two episodes later. After Vince demanded that Paige trade herself in for Christopher’s safety, Preacher interrupted the deal and knocked Vince out before he could kill Paige. There are still plenty of questions here: Is Vince dead, or just unconscious? Adorably, Jack and Mel get engaged before finding out the paternity, proving that their commitment to each other is for real. So, the fact that Virgin River season four ends with them in a fairly okay place—engaged, pregnant, and not in any mortal danger!—is a miracle in itself. Keep reading for the biggest moments of the Virgin River season four ending, explained. The season also answered several big questions, such as the paternity of Mel’s baby, the motive of that mystery shooter, and how Hope is coping with the reality of a traumatic brain injury.

But as Jack's memory came back, he realised it was Vince who was to blame. [EXPLAINER] Virgin River season 4 theory: Brady killed off despite being cleared [THEORY] Just as Paige and Vince were about to get into a fight, Preached charged in to save the day. Vince shoots Jack, and leaves the bar. As you remember, Virgin River season 2 ends on a major cliffhanger when Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) arrives at the bar and finds Jack lying on the floor after being shot.

Dr. Cameron Hayek is the new doctor in town in Virgin River season 4, and he might have feelings for Mel. Does he cause any trouble for Mel and Jack?
(Not to mention, Doc and Mel still need help around the clinic, and Cameron leaving would be a headache.) As if Mel and Jack didn’t have enough problems to sort through in Virgin River season 4, here comes a new character that could add one to the pile. If you’re wondering why Doc and Mel might need a little extra help around the clinic, it’s not a spoiler to understand Cameron’s sudden appearance.
Alexandra Breckenridge as Melinda "Mel" Monroe · Martin Henderson as Jack Sheridan · Annette O'Toole as Hope McCrea · Tim Matheson as Doc Mullins · Benjamin ...
The only totally new face in the season 4 cast of Virgin River is Dr. Hayek, played by Ghanimé, who joins Mel and Doc as the clinic's second doctor. Joining the cast of Virgin River for season four is Denny, played by Bradbury, who showed up at the end of season three asking about Doc Mullins. The reason? Due to COVID-19 filming restrictions, veteran actress McCrea—who plays the town's beloved mayor, Hope—wasn't able to join the rest of the cast in Vancouver for the filming of season three. After a shaky start in the tiny, insular town, Mel settles in—and falls for local veteran and bar owner Jack Sheridan, played by Henderson. Season three ended with Mel telling Jack she was pregnant, but that the baby might not be his. Virgin River takes its inspiration from "slower" small-town shows like Dawson's Creek and Gilmore Girls—an antidote to the high-octane glossiness of shows like Succession.) The fourth season of hit Netflix romance series Virgin River welcomes back its existing cast—the oddball, tight-night community of Virgin River, a fictional town in Northern California—while introducing a handful of new characters to shake things up.
But first, here's a brief refresher: At the end of season three, Christopher was kidnapped by Vince, the just-as-awful twin brother of Paige's abusive ex, Wes.
Between the release of Virgin River season two, which first saw Paige go on the run, and now, Doig starred as Sally Allison in three Hallmark Movies and Mysteries’ Aurora Teagarden Mystery series, which she’s been a part of since 2015. By the end of season four, it’s not totally clear whether Vince is dead or just knocked out and about to be arrested, but either way, it looks like Paige and Christopher are indeed safe. Fortunately, Preacher and Paige were able to take down Vince during the climactic final minutes of the Virgin River season four finale, so Paige, Christopher, and Preacher are safe!

This could give fans hope that they might be able to watch season 5 of Virgin River by July 2023. Season 4 will reveal who shot Jack but if you have yet to watch the season Jack's shooter is still a mystery. Sadly, Virgin River is not a real life location. The finale of season 3 showed him being drugged and left dead in the woods. This was after a plot was formed by Vince, the twin brother of Paige's abusive ex, to kidnap his nephew, Paige's son Christopher. So much has happened in the past three seasons, and with a 12-month gap since the last season, it can be tricky to remember what has happened.

Whose baby is Mel having on Virgin River? Is Jack or Mark the father? The season 4 finale of Virgin River gives us an answer, as well as a twist about ...
So: In the finale of Season Four of "Virgin River," Mel gets paperwork back with information about the child she's carrying — including the identity of the father. Drumroll, please: Jack is the child's father — and they're having a girl. She recently suffered the loss of her husband, Mark, who died in a car accident, and a miscarriage. Mel returns to Los Angeles and decides to approach motherhood in a different way. Jack was about to propose when Mel revealed that she was pregnant — and he might not be the father. Mel, a nurse practitioner, moved to the small California town with the intention of recuperation.
The Netflix romantic drama has returned with its fourth season – but will it be back for a fifth?
She says that what's happening to her is karma because she lied before revealing that the twins are not Jack's babies. So season 5 is likely to explore the newly engaged couple's journey through parenthood, particularly with the recent bombshell Charmaine dropped on Jack. Can't wait to find out in like a year."
Now streaming on Netflix, the drama's 12-episode fourth season kicks off with Jack strolling alongside a very pregnant Mel, casually exchanging baby name ideas, ...
It’s a storyline that Breckenridge admits can be “rather confusing” once you start digging into the science of it all. This should be obvious for two reasons: (1) Mark is dead, and (2) There’s no way Mel would be that far along given the pace at which this show crawls. “The baby might be his, remember?” Right on cue, in walks Mel’s dead ex-husband, who acknowledges Jack before greeting Mel with a kiss.
During the Virgin River season four finale, Charmaine reveals Jack isn't the father of her twins. Here are a few theories while we wait for season five.
Brady and Brie seem to be a happy budding couple by the end of Virgin River season four—but what if he and Charmaine had an off-screen fling back in season one? And I think I would be the one who was shot at the end of season two, and not him. According to CNY Fertility, these drugs “can be prescribed in conjunction with several reproductive treatments,” including IVF. While it seems plausible that Mel was brushing up on the information for herself, she wasn’t actively considering motherhood at this point in her relationship with Jack. What if Charmaine had been pursuing fertility treatments behind Jack’s back, and Mel was familiarizing herself with her new patient’s medical history? Of course, if this were the case, why would Charmaine go through the trouble of lying to Jack, especially when he wasn’t that invested in their relationship by the end, anyway? But while one baby question has been resolved, another arrived during the final seconds of season four (oh, Virgin River—never change). After Jack and Mel rush to Charmaine’s house to help with a medical emergency, she says her mystery affliction is karma. But if it’s not him, then, uh, who is the father of Charmaine’s twins on Virgin River? Though Jack no longer having kids with Charmaine will probably make his life with Mel much, much easier, it’s still a question worth digging into. But if you rewatch the first two seasons of Virgin River closely, you’ll notice several potential hints toward Charmaine’s own struggles in this area. The only other person Charmaine’s been romantically linked to on Virgin River is, of course, Todd, making him a natural first suspect. Later, in the season two premiere, Mel finally decides to take on Charmaine as a patient—and the very next time we see her, she’s studying up on some very intriguing medications (clomiphene citrate and letrozole) in an article about ovulation induction. When Mel told Jack that she was pregnant but unsure of her new baby’s paternity, fans were forced to wait a year to find out who the dad-to-be was: Jack, or Mel’s deceased ex-husband, Mark. Fortunately, season four made it clear as Clear River itself— as many fans predicted, Jack is, indeed, the dad. Virgin River loves its cliffhangers—and last year’s reveal at the end of season three was one of the biggest yet. The twins—they’re not your babies,” she tearfully confesses to Jack.
Season 4 of 'Virgin River' offers up the answers you've been waiting for (who shot Jack? who's the daddy?) along with new mysteries to unpack.
But she hesitates to shoot, and Vince knocks Preacher to the ground, leaving him with a nasty-looking head wound. Mel offers to fill in until he can find somebody, but how on earth is that going to put in the 25 hours a week Hope needs alongside her job at the clinic? Then Brie heads to the clinic, where she congratulates Mel and immediately picks up on the weird vibes with Cameron. Mel pulls her outside to explain… Brie arrives to say that their mom's demanding she host a shower for the twins in Sacramento now, and she and Jack razz each other a bit. They take their celebration to a suite, and as they lounge in bed, Mel's email dings with the paternity results. Three days later, Jack and Mel are at the OB for the paternity test, and afterward they head home to make plans for the glamping business, clearly in a better place with each other. The next day, Preacher takes Jack back to his Bronco and urges him to see a therapist. Then he digs in his heels and refuses to go to the wedding, in part because Jack will be there. Joey walks down the aisle in their mother's earrings that Mel gave her that morning, and Brady slips in late, whispering to Brie that he'd do anything for her. Then Cameron arrives and brings up the drug cabinet again, but Hope hustles him to the maypole to avoid that conversation with Doc. He floats the idea of Denny staying with them, but Hope's frustrated waiting for her body to heal and wants Doc to protect her solitude while she does. The women of the town are ready with a warm welcome and stampede to make appointments with Dr. Hayek. To his credit, he gamely keeps them all.
