Emmy nominations 2022: The full updating list (The Washington Post)

The 74th Emmy Awards air Monday, Sept. 12, on NBC. Read on for a list of the 2022 nominees with our analysis. Outstanding drama series. “ ...

(Himesh Patel, unlikely to win, is still nice to see.) Analysis: Well, hello Hulu. Academy voters clearly loved “ Dopesick,” the streamer’s thorough (and thoroughly heartbreaking) series about the opioid epidemic. We’re a little surprised to not see “The Staircase,” which earned top acting nods, or the well-reviewed “Maid,” which landed Margaret Qualley a lead actress nom, in the mix. Garfield seems the front-runner here, capping a great year for him. Analysis: The talent in this category is top-notch, and several actresses — Colette, Garner and Paulson — have earned multiple nods from the academy during their careers. The most interesting nominations here are “Severance” star Adam Scott, better known for his comedy chops, and Critics’ Choice winner Lee Jung-jae of “Squid Game.” Analysis: Fans of newcomers “Abbott Elementary” and “Only Murders in the Building” will be happy to see the critically acclaimed shows appear in this category alongside a hefty number of return nominees. Critics’ Choice winner Melanie Lynskey getting another award for “Yellowjackets” would be a nice conclusion to a long-overdue year of attention; Zendaya, who won the year after Comer, tends to receive tons of attention but really put her all into this past season of “Euphoria.” Reese Witherspoon, who beat out co-star Jennifer Aniston for a “Morning Show” nod this year, doesn’t seem likely to win. Note the lack of network shows, though – there was apparently no love for “ This Is Us” in its final season. HBO’s “Euphoria” is a pleasant surprise, but only to an extent considering Zendaya’s big win at the 2020 ceremony. But in a win for Hulu, the streaming service’s breakout comedy-mystery “Only Murders in the Building” also landed 17 nominations, with acting noms for Steve Martin and Martin Short, though the Television Academy curiously snubbed co-lead Selena Gomez. Jerrod Carmichael was the only guest host to garner a nomination, for his memorable episode shortly after the infamous Oscars slap.

The Biggest Snubs From the 2022 Emmy Nominations (POPSUGAR Australia)

“Stranger Things” was nominated for outstanding drama series, plus many technical awards, but it received no nominations for cast members. Many stars deserved a ...

"Maid" was a thoughtful, moving series that deserved credit here. Issa Rae was nominated for outstanding actress in a comedy series for her work in the final season of "Insecure," but the show wasn't nominated for outstanding comedy series. Though previous seasons of "This Is Us" have gotten 39 nominations with four wins, the final season got just one nomination, for outstanding original music. It would have been nice to see the show be nominated for outstanding drama series, but at the very least Oscar-winner Youn Yuh-jung credit for her work as Sunja. The series was only nominated for main title design. That's a huge snub for a show that had five amazing seasons, but was only ever nominated as a series once, in 2020. In some cases, the show received a handful of awards, but the Emmys failed to acknowledge some of the performances that made it so special.

Nathan Lane Is Ready to Make Even More History After the 2022 ... (Vanity Fair)

Seven nominations for the Primetime Emmy—you hope it doesn't turn into Susan Lucci,” Lane tells Vanity Fair of becoming the most-nominated comedy guest ...

“Well, I haven’t,” he says with a laugh. “Look, it’s always a pleasure to be there,” he says. “As the season goes on, there’s a big surprise that happens between my character and Marty’s,” Lane teases. Lane is nominated for his work in OMITB’s standout seventh episode, “The Boy from 6B,” which heavily features ASL. If Lane’s jubilation about his nomination is tempered, it’s by the omission of his costar in that episode. Given that the show was just recently renewed for a third season, it’s unclear if Lane returns, although he appears to be on board. “It was kind of a big surprise, because when I was asked to do the show,” he says, “I had imagined it was just going to be comedy—and to get to work with Marty [Short] and Steve [Martin] would be lovely.

The 2022 Emmy Nominations Have Snubbed Some Of The Biggest ... (ELLE Australia)

The 2022 Emmy Nominations are here, and as always, they've brought a certain level of contention. Read on as we round up the biggest snubs.

Despite Reese Witherspoon receiving a nomination for lead actress in a drama series for her work in The Morning Show, industry veteran Jennifer Aniston did not. Sink, who has singlehandedly revived Kate Bush's hit, Running Up That Hill, and carrying most of the season on her back, is yet to receive formal recognition. The show, which aired its sixth and final season this year, has not been recognised in any capacity, which feels like a missed opportunity. It's very likely that the show hasn't aired with enough time to garner a nomination, so she could be acknowledged next year. She's only been nominated for the show once, which came in 2019. The 2022 Emmy Nominations are here, and as always, they've brought a certain level of contention.

The South Korean breakout hit made history this year as the first non-English language show nominated for Outstanding Drama Series with its Emmy nominations 2022. It's always fun to see sci-fi series making the Emmy cut – and in the case of Severance, the nomination for Outstanding Drama Series is richly deserved. Euphoria is in the running for Outstanding Drama series, with star Zendaya once again nominated for Lead Actress in a Drama. She won in 2020, making history as the youngest actress to ever receive the coveted award. Alas, the series follows a trio of neighbours who live in a swanky New York building and band together to investigate a crime. All episodes are available on BINGE and Foxtel Now. Leading the Emmy nominations 2022 list with an astounding 25 nods, Succession likely needs no introduction by now. Ted Lasso continues to be a crowd-pleaser and will return at this year's Emmy ceremony to defend the Outstanding Comedy title it won in 2021. Selena Gomez was omitted from the lead actress in a comedy category, an unfortunate snub that stings. The show revolves around the mentorship that forms between an aging Las Vegas comedian and a 20-something writer. If you're looking for a satisfying binge session, however, checking out the titles with the most Emmy nominations in 2022 is a safe way to ensure that you'll watch quality content. If you missed out on these acclaimed titles over the last few months, you still have time to catch up. Still, there's plenty to go through across the drama, comedy and limited series categories.

If you’re invested in the streaming wars, HBO and HBO Max scooped the most nominations this year, racking up 140 in total, while Netflix only received 105. - Barry, 14 Emmy nominations Meanwhile, Lizzo will go toe-to-toe with RuPaul for outstanding competition program after the release of Big Grrrls, Julie Andrews (Lady Whistledown in Bridgerton) is up against Stanley Tucci (Bitsy in Central Park) for outstanding character voice-over performance, and David Attenborough and Barack Obama are in the running for outstanding narrator following the premieres of The Mating Game and Our Great National Parks, respectively. Critics’ favorite Yellowstone got overlooked, too, as did newcomers Pachinko, Reservoir Dogs, and Maid. (While Margaret Qualley did get recognized in the outstanding lead actress in a limited or anthology series or movie category, mother Andie MacDowell got shut out of the outstanding supporting actress line-up.) And even though Only Murders in the Building scooped 17 nominations in total, Selena Gomez got passed over for the chance to win an acting statuette, and Stranger Things fans are convinced Sadie Sink got robbed of a best supporting actress spot. Melanie Lynskey for Yellowjackets; Andrew Garfield for Under the Banner of Heaven; Oscar Isaac for Scenes from a Marriage; Amanda Seyfried for The Dropout; Lily James for Pam & Tommy; Elle Fanning for The Great; Kaitlyn Dever for Dopesick; and Sydney Sweeney for both Euphoria and The White Lotus. There’s also HBO’s Succession, which broke the record for the drama series with the most acting nominations in a single year (14), while NBC’s Saturday Night Live held on to its record as the series with the most Emmy nominations (306 nods across six decades). Zendaya made history once again, too—after becoming the youngest winner of the outstanding actress in a drama series Emmy in 2020, she is now, at 25, the youngest two-time lead acting nominee and the youngest woman ever to be nominated for producing.
