I was born in Damaragal Country and I now live on Cameragal Country. I am a mum, a daughter, a sister, a wife and a passionate ally. And our people are telling us that they seek more than a bump in cash, they seek meaning, a sense of belonging, purpose and connection.

City of Perth Council House will showcase Aboriginal colours to ... (PerthNow)

The City of Perth will celebrate and embrace the oldest living culture on Earth with a series of events this NAIDOC Week.

Council House will begin hosting a Community Arts Network’s exhibition Ngaluk Waangkiny (‘us talking’ in Noongar) on Monday until July 31. “The City of Perth is honoured to host the Ngaluk Waangkiny exhibition, a profound project that embodies this year’s NAIDOC theme to get up, stand up, show up. The City of Perth will celebrate the oldest living culture on Earth with a series of events this NAIDOC Week.

NAIDOC Week 2022: “It is great to work on something that connects ... (create digital)

When civil engineer Jeff Dobell contacted Sydney University in 1996 to recruit Indigenous engineers, they told him only one Indigenous engineer had graduated ...

For me, this year’s NAIDOC week theme is about how as an Indigenous man I can take action and make a difference. It’s cool to see how you can go from being a student learning from the engineers to being that person who presents to the students. It was interesting to think I can be a part of a project like that. There’s a bunch of different Indigenous art going in there that needs to be preserved and kept safe. In high school, I was good at math and physics and a teacher suggested engineering. My favourite project is the new Indigenous Cultures Centre, Tarrkarri, which is being built in Adelaide. It is great to be able to work on something that connects my engineering passion with my culture.
