LIVE AFL: Bombers' 15-minute 'out of nowhere' burst sees HUGE shift in Swans clash.

It’s a smashing in this last 10 to 15 minutes.” No doubt I reckon the players will remember this one.” Wright took a contested mark on the goal line, and then snapped his second goal to put the Bombers in front, capping an incredible turnaround Buckley exclaimed had “come out of nowhere”. Dylan Shiel copped a knock to the shoulder early in the term and stayed on the ground for some time and was attended to by trainers before eventually getting up and appearing to be alright, remaining on the field. Almost on cue, the Bombers finally showed some fight, with a passage of pressure in the forward half ending in a goal to Zach Merrett. There were no late changes for either side.

Boilover at the 'G: Bombers stun Swans in HUGE upset (AFL)

Boilover at the 'G: Bombers stun Swans in HUGE upset ... THIS will feel like some form of redemption. It has been a miserable season for Essendon, but Saturday's ...

The All-Australian small forward could have finished with a bag, but ended up with just one next to his name, along with three behinds and a shot that didn’t register a score. It has been a frustrating season for the 25-year-old who didn’t play his first game until round seven due to a hamstring injury that lingered. Not many have been as good as Luke Parker, who Sydney plucked with pick No.40 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft. After winning three Bob Skilton Medals, a premiership and an All-Australian blazer, Parker celebrated his 250th in style at the MCG on Saturday in front of family and friends in his home city. The Western Jets product collected 15 touches on debut, 14 last week, and hadn’t beaten that mark by early in the third quarter, finishing with 23 disposals to loom as the next great pick from the mid-season draft. Sydney looked ominous early, kicking five goals without a blemish to open up a three-goal lead at the first break. Sydney had so much more on the line.

'I thought I was going to be the villain': Jake Stringer ignites Bombers ... (The Age)

Jake Stringer came alive and Kyle Langford could not have timed his first goal of the season any better, as Essendon posted a thrilling nine-point win over ...

Papley had a left-foot snap from about 25m which gave the Swans their first goal, and he had a direct hand in their fifth which led to Reid’s mark and goal. His speed and creativity - not to mention his celebrations - are a weekly highlight, and these were on show in the opening term when the Swans took charge. Isaac Heeney complained of a foot issue in the first term but made the most of his limited touches. The Swans pressed in the third term (20-6 inside 50s) but had eight straight scoring shots which were all points. It was the second time the Bombers had lifted. He conceded a 50m penalty which allowed Chad Warner to goal, cutting the lead to three points with two minutes remaining, but it did not matter.

Essendon v Sydney - HB's Loves and Hates - The Mongrel Punt (The Mongrel Punt)

The Bombers upset the Swans in a gutsy performance at the MCG, denting Sydney's top-four chances and restoring some pride in the red and black.

He was at it again in this one, once again saving his best for the third quarter, as he laid the smacketh down on Nick Blakey a couple of times to win contests and drive the Bombers forward. He has taken to it like a fish to water this season, and if he manages it, it’ll be one of the great footy stories. At 23, he has taken his time, but how big was he in the last quarter of this game! With Michael Hurley only now getting back to training with the group, this effort from Bzerk probably came a little late to really mean something important for 2022, but it is what it means to this club going forward that is important. it is a lot to ask, but when you’re on the verge of being the hero, doing something that casts you in the role of villain is something only masochists would do. Much like the teenage version of me, Durham was all about the effort, but the execution left a little to be desired. He can do the mercurial, or the idiotic, depending on which way the wind is blowing, and in this one we saw both sides of a very complicated fella. Instead, it was a youngster playing game number 11 that went into the middle of the ground and stamped his authority on the contest. It was only in the last quarter, with the game on the line, that we started to see why he is so highly regarded. One week, he is racking them up and looking as though he is capable of taking on the world, and the next… Early in the first quarter, Sydney looked set for a big win, as they slotted five of the first six goals and moved the ball from end to end with apparent ease. Merrett finished with 24 touches, doing most of his damage in the last quarter, as he notched nine touches and one of his three goals.
