Sam Mac caught up with his old friend hours after the verdict was handed down.

“The complainant put his trust in his manager and largely relied on the offender to properly account for the monies he was receiving into his trust account on behalf of the complainant,” Morters said. “It’s almost perfect timing even though it was a lot to absorb yesterday but I am glad that we can do this and be out on the road and really have time to absorb everything and have all the support of all these beautiful Wagga people coming out to meet us.” Titus Day faces jail time after he was found guilty of dozens of charges that he fraudulently embezzled more than $600,000 out of the pop star.

Almost two years to the day since he was arrested for the charges, Titus Day – the former manager of Guy Sebastian – has been found guilty of embezzling part of the singer’s earnings. 'Painful': Guy Sebastian breaks his silence after court result (NEWS.com.au)

Guy Sebastian said he is “grateful” to finally close a “painful chapter” in his life after hearing the verdict of his former manager yesterday.

Following the separation, Mr Sebastian claimed he found anomalies in his financial records. The Crown argued that Mr Day “misappropriated the money” by withdrawing it and using it “for purposes other than Mr Sebastian’s benefits,” the judge said. However, the defence barrister representing Mr Day told the court his client was entitled to be reimbursed for the expenses he incurred while working for the Australian Idol winner. “None of this needed to happen. In his summation of the facts of the case, Judge Gartelmann told the jurors a guilty verdict was only possible if the Crown had proven Mr Sebastian’s estranged ex-manager deliberately withheld money owed to the musician. Mr Morsters told the court Mr Sebastian put “his trust in his manager” and relied on Mr Day to account for the money he was receiving.

The pair's business relationship ended in an acrimonious split, and the pop singer filed a civil lawsuit in the Federal Court in July 2018. The jury was told no contract was ever formalised between Day and Sebastian when he took over managing the Australian Idol winner via his company 6 Degrees between 2009 and 2017. Judge Timothy Gartelmann said there was no risk that Day would not re-appear in court and dismissed a detention application.
