Canada Day events in Regina packed with family fun activities (Globalnews.ca)

There will be various events for the whole family to participate in on Canada Day in Regina throughout the city from Wascana Park to the Buffalo Meadows ...

Gates and activities open at 6 p.m. and the event starts at 6:45 p.m., free of charge. Throughout the afternoon, there will be powwow dances from tiny tots to adult categories in jingle, traditional, fancy and chicken. A community buffalo feast will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with grand entry starting at noon. The main event will be held at Wascana Park with entertainment, food and fireworks to bring families together. The event will include storytelling and performances by musicians such as Hazel Dixon and Erroll Kinistino. Tons of food vendors from Campfire Grill, Gravy Train, Moose Jaw Donuts, Queen City Footlong and others will be set up in the parking lot of the legislature.

Canada Day Fun in Southside Park (heartfm.ca)

The City of Woodstock's Canada Day celebration in Southside Park will include live music, a Canadian Kids Zone and the popular fireworks show.

Cambridge celebrates Canada Day with themed events all weekend (CambridgeToday.ca)

The big Canada Day celebration in Cambridge starts with an early morning fishing derby and ends with a bang as fireworks take over the sky.

This show features three of Canada’s fastest rising comedians," as stated on the website. Spice up your Saturdays with salsa, bachata and merengue. A midway, car show, Portraits of Honour, kids activities and more await families at Riverside Park for the nation's celebration this year. 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. 7:30 p.m. to midnight 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Returning back this year, the parade starts at 11 a.m. and will go down King Street, people will be lined up early to get a good spot. Show starts at 7 p.m. It's a Canada Day themed market this Friday. Making a return appearance at the market is MP Valerie Bradford. The MP of Kitchener South-Hespeler will have a booth at the market from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. to chat with the community. This year, the community can come out to the park to enjoy two days of amusement in honour of the nation's holiday. Families will be dressed head to toe in red and white Friday as the celebrations kick off at 8 a.m. and go til the end of the fireworks show.

Education about colonialism and residential schools must be included in any Canada Day event, said Lisa Howell, a professor at the University of Ottawa and one of the organizers of the Reimagine Canada Day project. The holiday itself is recent. This year, organizers of the big Canada Day celebration at the Forks — an important site for Indigenous peoples in downtown Winnipeg — have renamed the event “A New Day,” cancelled fireworks and promised events that are to be reflective as well as celebratory.
