"They hired Hinch for who he is and what he says. "My record's pretty public. I loved it, it's the biggest honour of my life to be in Canberra," Hinch told A Current Affair. "I'm not going to retire. Then they fire Hinch for who he is and what he says," he said. Hinch said by running for parliament, he's standing "for all of Victoria" in the electorate and added that because he's a former federal senator he knows a lot of issues in the state are also rural issues.

Derryn Hinch confirms plans to run for Victorian parliament (Starts at 60)

Former shock jock, prisoner and federal senator Derryn Hinch has set his sights on state parliament, announcing he will contest November's state election.

Hinch says by running for parliament, he’s making a stand “for all Victoria” in the electorate. “My record’s pretty public. “I’m not going to retire. “So, 50 years (as) a journalist and I’m renowned for being in the Wog Boy movies,” he said. I am a Liberal voter but as a protest for the lack of leadership, aggression and simple effort in the Victorian Liberal Party I will vote for Derryn Hinch. It is understood that Hinch is vying for a seat in the Victorian Upper House and is launching a bid for the balance of power, saying he has “unfinished business”.
