"Little Women" costume designer Jacqueline Durran has joined the live-action "Barbie" movie.
Social media lost its mind earlier this month when Warner Bros. released the first photo of Gosling, 41, as Ken. The actor has bleach-blond hair, a spray tan and abs for days in the now-viral still. So far, the internet can’t get enough of Durran’s latest work. In the pic, blond Robbie sits in a pink convertible while sporting a blue polka-dot headband — and a big smile.
The photos featuring Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell, and a lot of neon have already begun to break the internet—and our brains.
New images of Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling on the set of the Barbie movie reveal inline skating and neon pink fun.
Both of those toys seem to influence the cinematic Barbie and Ken’s wardrobe in the latest set photos, right down to the flashy neon yellow skates. But it’s been the set photos leaking out from location shooting in which passersby are able to capture images of Robbie and Gosling in iconic Barbie doll fashion that have really been winning over (or confounding) skeptics. That joyous fact is revealed by the latest batch of set photos from the set of Greta Gerwig’s delightfully surreal-looking Barbie movie.
New photos from the set of Greta Gerwig's live-action 'Barbie' film have emerged. Twitter reacted accordingly.
Meanwhile, Gosling underwent a transformation by dying his hair to platinum blond and is seen showing it off. In the promotional pictures, Robbie rides in a hot pink convertible while dressed in a blue-and-white halter top. Paparazzi photos captured at Venice Beach yesterday show Robbie and Gosling, who play Barbie and Ken in the movie, wearing coordinating couples' rollerblading outfits.

“But with that comes a lot of exciting ways to attack it. Speaking to British Vogue in 2021, Robbie commented on her upcoming role and the film’s director, saying that Barbie “comes with a lot of baggage” and “a lot of nostalgic connections”. In April Warner Bros shared a first look image of the Barbie movie, with Robbie posing in a pink convertible, sporting a blue top and polka dot headband.

Again, the story of this movie is truly a doozy. In December 2020, Margot gave us a hint about the project’s inner workings when she spoke with the Hollywood Reporter. “We like the things that feel a little left of center. Something cataclysmic happened when the world ~officially~ learned a Barbie movie got the green light from Hollywood. And that something is a constant stream of sneak-peek content we didn’t know we needed. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are playing Barbie and Ken. Plus, Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’s Simu Liu are both confirmed as two other Ken dolls in the movie. Insecure’s Issa Rae is also set to play another Barbie alongside Transparent’s Hari Nef. Will Ferrell, for his part, is currently cast as the CEO of a toy company. Thanks to Mattel and Warner Bros, a slew of legendary characters are being brought to live-action life for the first time ever.
Starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, “Barbie” won't hit screens until next summer, but filming at Venice Beach has already whet appetites.
Eventually, Sony’s option ran out; Mattel then partnered with Warner Bros. in 2019, deciding that Robbie would play the live-action version of the legendary doll. “I was literally incapable of writing a Barbie script. “[A junior agent] was like, ‘If I could stake my career on any one script, it’s the ‘Barbie’ script. “Dude, I never even produced an initial draft. The couple’s beach-skating outfits, meanwhile, can be seen above, in all their neon glory. Might be everywhere, come next summer.
