At Wimbledon, Rafael Nadal bids for a third consecutive Grand Slam singles title and his first at the All England Club since 2010.

Nadal, on the other half of the draw, could play Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals. Djokovic could play 19-year-old Spanish phenom Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals. Djokovic is the top seed, replacing top-ranked Daniil Medvedev, who cannot play Wimbledon due to the tournament banning Russian and Belarusian players for the war in Ukraine.

Serena Williams returns to Wimbledon, while Iga Swiatek is the No. 1 seed and favorite at the Grand Slam tennis event.

Gauff, the French Open runner-up, could play 2019 Wimbledon champion Simona Halep in the quarterfinals and Swiatek in the semifinals. If Swiatek wins three matches at Wimbledon, she will have the longest streak since Steffi Graf won 66 in a row in 1989-90. Swiatek, the 2018 Wimbledon junior champion, is on the longest win streak in women’s tennis since Venus Williams also won 35 in 2000.

She won the seventh and most recent of her seven Wimbledon singles titles in 2016. Should Kyrgios beat Jubb, he’d face Croatian 26th seed Filip Krajinovic in the second round then Tsitsipas in the third. Kyrgios has slipped to 45th in the world but, with his big serve and aggressive game, the 27-year-old will be an opponent the favourites want to avoid next week. Kyrgios’ record in Grand Slams, though, remains underwhelming. “I feel good. The last of the American’s Grand Slam singles titles came at the Australian Open in 2017.

Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal could be on another Grand Slam crash course at the All England Club, where the 2022 Wimbledon men's singles competition ...

And which long shots could make a serious run at the Grand Slam title? Alcaraz is 32-4 overall this season, including a quarterfinal loss to Zverev at the French Open and a semifinal setback to Nadal at Indian Wells. He has won two titles on clay and one hard-court event, and he has the talent to compete anywhere. Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal could be on another Grand Slam crash course at the All England Club, where the 2022 Wimbledon men's singles competition begins Monday. Djokovic is the top seed and Nadal is No. 2 in a men's draw weakened by the absence of world No. 1 Daniil Medvedev and second-ranked Alexander Zverev. Medvedev is banned, along with all other Russian and Belarusian players, because of the invasion of Ukraine, and Zverev is out after suffering a serious ankle injury at the French Open. Nadal won at Roland Garros for his record 21st Grand Slam title, and his second in a row. Both of these players should be able to take advantage of the weakened draw and are capable of pulling off major upsets. Calvert says it wouldn't surprise him too much to see the rising star go out in that first-round match. He comes in this year having played none of the warm-up events because of an elbow injury.
