NBA Finals Game 4 recap: Warriors' trio nears record for Finals wins ... (USA TODAY)

The Celtics and Warriors are now tied 2-2 in the 2022 NBA Finals, thanks to an impressive 43-point performance from an injured Steph Curry.

He was credited with leading Brooklyn from 20 wins in his first season to 42-40 record in 2018-19 — the Nets’ first playoff berth since 2015. The Warriors will have Steph Curry on the floor. Well, Draymond Green received a similar treatment in TD Garden during Game 3, so much so that his wife called on the league to take action. When asked what needs to change for Game 4, Poole told reporters on Thursday, “Just being able to take what the defense gives us. He has 15 fouls and 15 points in the entire series. Green has had foul trouble in the 2022 NBA Finals, fouling out in Game 1 and Game 3. Steve Kerr is shaking up the lineup for Game 4: He started Otto Porter Jr. in place of Kevon Looney. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green round out the Warriors' starting lineup. This marks his third 30-point plus game of the series, but Curry is going to need some offensive help if the Warriors are going to win this pivotal game on the road. He picked up 2 rebounds, 2 assists and one steal before picking up his second foul and being pulled from the game with 4:18 left in the first. He hit the free throw to put the Celtics up 91-86. He’s scored 6 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter. In 2015, they trailed the Cleveland Cavaliers 2-1 before Game 4 in Cleveland.

'Absolutely iconic': Curry drops 43 pts in 'incredible' performance as Warriors level NBA Finals.

He picked up three personal fouls in three quarters and was subbed out by Steve Kerr in the final quarter in what was a gutsy call by the Warriors coach. The Golden State star sunk a shot from deep and exploded in celebration as the TD Garden was stunned into silence and forced a Celtics timeout. It was a slow start from the Warriors as the Celtics leapt out to an early lead, as Curry also picked up his first personal foul in the opening two minutes.

Celtics vs. Warriors score, takeaways: Stephen Curry erupts for 43 ... (CBSSports.com)

Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics was essentially a heavyweight brawl for 48 minutes with both sides landing big ...

We don't know how long this is going to last, but it's important to note that with six minutes left in a Finals game, Draymond Green is on the bench. In Game 3, it went double-big for a long stretch in the fourth quarter after splitting up Williams and Horford for most of the game. Nemanja Bjelica has been in and out of the rotation all postseason. He finished with 17 points and 16 rebounds in 43 minutes, and the Warriors were plus-20 with him on the floor. In the Eastern Conference finals against the Heat, they couldn't complete a comeback in Game 3, couldn't hold on to a late lead in Game 6 and nearly blew Game 7 in a disastrous fashion. While he did most of his work on the defensive glass, he also came up with a few clutch put-backs in the fourth quarter to get the Warriors some big non-Curry points. With 3:41 left, the Celtics came out of a timeout with a White-Smart-Brown-Tatum-Horford lineup, sending Robert Williams III to the bench after he appeared to tweak his knee. That is the highest differential in a Finals game in the last 25 years, per ESPN Stats and Info. They were on the road in a hostile environment, down 2-1 and trailing for large stretches of the game. The Celtics closed the regular season on a 28-7 run, and in a strange way, they may have been a bit too good over the final few months. For starters, this wasn't like Game 1 or some stretches of Game 3 where the Celtics were having breakdowns on the defensive end and giving Curry too much space. Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics was essentially a heavyweight brawl for 48 minutes with both sides landing big blows throughout.

Celtics vs. Warriors prediction, pick, odds, spread, line for 2022 NBA ... (CBSSports.com)

This might as well be an elimination game for the Warriors, who are not going to become the second team in NBA history recover from a 3-1 Finals deficit to ...

I expect the Celtics to start to separate themselves in Game 4. The Celtics are daring the Warriors to beat them one-on-one, and Curry is the only scorer they have who's capable of doing so. The Celtics were the more physical team throughout Game 3, and at times they simply looked too big and too athletic for Golden State to match up with, and that's not necessarily something you can scheme against. The Warriors need him to do so much, and if he's not at full strength it's going to be tough for them to win. The other issue for the Warriors is that they've had trouble finding consistent scoring outside of Steph Curry, while the Celtics have had more consistent contributions. Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins showed signs of life on offense in Game 3 which was encouraging, but Golden State couldn't stop anyone on the other end of the floor. They won't get dominated on the boards again, and Draymond Green is going to come out with the fire and passion we saw in Game 2. Yet the Warriors, as far as we know, are still the Warriors, and recency bias reigns supreme in the NBA. So barring Curry being too hurt to truly help, the sky is most likely not actually falling on the Warriors -- and a win shifts this series and its momentum back into their hands. I can't pick the Warriors when I don't think they have figured out a winning formula *and* Steph might be hobbled. Bill Reiter: It felt certain earlier in the week that the Warriors would win one of these two games in Boston. Steph Curry is Steph Curry. Klay Thompson would certainly reclaim his shooting touch, at least for one game. That said, the Boston Celtics increasingly look like the clearly superior team. I think the Warriors will find a way to win Game 4 and turn it into a three-game series going back to San Francisco, but most of my colleagues disagree.

Can Boston take a 3-1 lead, or will Golden State even the series? Here is viewing info, X-factors and everything you need to know for Game 4.

Golden State desperately needs his production as a third (and sometimes second) scoring option, especially if Steph Curry is going to be hampered at all by the apparent leg injury he sustained in Game 3. When he's 100% and at the top of his game, though, the Celtics are at their best. His defensive versatility allows the Celtics to play big more often next to Al Horford and take advantage of the smaller Warriors. A win by the Celtics gives them a nearly insurmountable 3-1 lead and complete control of the series. Boston improved to 7-0 after a loss by winning Game 3 and taking a 2-1 lead. The Warriors get another chance to rebound in Friday's pivotal Game 4.

NBA finals Game 4: Golden State Warriors 107-97 Boston Celtics ... (The Guardian)

Rolling report: The Golden State Warriors leveled the NBA finals against the Boston Celtics with a crucial Game 4 win. Beau Dure was watching.

Warriors 60-66 Celtics, 7:31, third period: The summer of Draymond Green’s discontent continues, with Jaylen Brown drawing a foul from the controversial Warrior and finishing beautifully. He also hits the shot and the free throw. At the other end, he saves a ball for a defensive rebound, starting a fast break that ends with Derrick White’s acrobatic layup with the and-one. Tatum is +10. Stats and damned lies, perhaps, but the issue for the Celtics is that Tatum, Brown and Robert Williams III have been bearing a lot of the load. Brown with the steal and a “layup” in which he was falling and had the ball maybe a foot off the ground when he released it. And what of Otto Porter Jr., the Warriors’ surprise starter? And he probably should’ve gone to the line as well. Warriors 73-73 Celtics, 2:31, third period: Tatum returns from a brief spell on the bench, but after a couple of misses and turnovers, guess who hits another twisting effort, this time from ... apparently 33 feet? Warriors 97-94 Celtics, 3:21: Cue the procession of timeouts. Warriors 102-97 Celtics, 46.8: Brown loses the ball out of bounds. Warriors 86-90 Celtics, 7:32: Brown with the runner. Warriors 97-94 Celtics, 3:41: Klay Thompson continues a late-game surge with a big three.

Will the Celtics be able to land another decisive blow in the NBA Finals? Or will the Warriors bounce back and regain home-court advantage?

But Game 4 will belong to the Celtics. In Game 2, he had 9 points on 3 attempts alongside 7 rebounds and was a +7 for the Warriors as he held his own against the Boston bigs. The series won’t end in San Francisco – the Warriors almost certainly will not lie down in a do-or-die Game 5 at home. The Golden State Warriors looked like their old selves in one quarter of Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night – the 3rd quarter, when they historically have thrived and beat Boston 33-25. The Golden State Warriors have struggled mightily when Draymond Green has played poorly in the Finals. Green has the same amount of points in this series as he does fouls, and in Games 1 and 3, Draymond played the worst games of his NBA Finals career. Meanwhile, while Stephen Curry (31 points) and Klay Thompson (25 points) were able to keep pace with the scoring of Boston’s key three they only had two other players score in double figures – Andrew Wiggins (18) and Jordan Poole (10). No other Warriors player scored more than 6 points in the game.

Williams was listed as questionable coming into the game with the knee injury that kept him out at the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs. Boston's got the best defense in the league - huge and powerful at every position, and for Steph to take that kind of pressure all game long and still be able to defend ... I think this is the strongest physically he's ever been in his career.'' Curry scored 14 points in the quarter, making four 3-pointers. Curry's ankle was an issue coming into the night after Boston's Al Horford landed on it late in Game 3. ''This is a tough series for him to score because of Boston's size and athleticism, but he's still impacting the game at a huge level.'' The amped-up crowd spent much of the game booing Green, chanting an obscenity at him that is usually reserved for Bucky Dent, and jeering his many misses. Marcus Smart, who scored 18 points, hit a 3-pointer to give the Celtics a 94-90 lead with just over five minutes remaining. Andrew Wiggins had 17 points and 16 boards for the Warriors, who have won at least one road game for 27 consecutive playoff series. There was a blank rectangle where the 18th would go. ''He's the ultimate competitor. ''We had to do it the difficult way,'' said Celtics coach Ime Udoka, whose team split the first four games in each of its previous two series. We've got to help him out on Monday.''
