Brown sacked after telling Warriors he won't commit to Auckland move (The Sydney Morning Herald)

Nathan Brown informed Warriors powerbrokers on Monday that personal reasons would keep him from basing himself permanently in Auckland to fulfil his duties.

He has been on the inside of it for close to 25 years,” said George. It’s the same sacrifice a lot of Warriors players have made in recent years. There’s also concern brewing on the Gold Coast given Justin Holbrook’s inability to get the Titans firing. The Warriors now find themselves in 14th position with four wins from 13 games. “Nathan has worked so hard for our club and we are extremely disappointed it has come to this. “We fully appreciate his position and the call he has made.

BREAKING: 'Tough for everyone' — Warriors sack Brown as replacement revealed.

“Given those circumstances we agreed we needed to make an immediate change. Rothfield conceded that he was “not shocked” to hear the news because after speaking with Brown a fortnight ago he learnt that he was “struggling emotionally to even grasp the thought of leaving his family.” He previously coached the Dragons and Knights, and has a career win percentage of 49 per cent, including his time in the Super League where he coached St Helens to the 2014 title. George paid tribute to Brown and what he did for the Warriors. It’s tough for everyone involved but, in the best interests of the club, we felt we had to go in a different direction now. The club was due to meet on Tuesday morning after Brown informed them he was not willing to move to New Zealand permanently due to personal reasons.

Ten coaching contenders to replace Nathan Brown at the Warriors in ... (Stuff.co.nz)

OPINION: With Nathan Brown gone, Stuff looks at 10 possible Warriors coach options for 2023.

When your coaching future is on the line as a young coach the Warriors is hardly the safe option. But Flanagan is a high-quality coach who has won a premiership with the Sharks, who were not in a dissimilar state to the Warriors when he took charge. Another young man with a big NRL coaching future but he was stitched up at Sharks and will be wary of his next appointment. But Woolf doesn’t really have any NRL head coaching experience, so he’s not the perfect option and does he want to risk his coaching future on a club with all kinds of issues over staying at St Helens, the Bulldogs, Tigers and anyone else who is down on their luck by the end of the season? To the eyes of most, he’s the club’s greatest ever player and a legend of the Warriors. But that doesn’t always translate to coaching success and just two years ago, Jones got the sideways shift, following the departure of Stephen Kearney, from the assistant coaching role to a gig in youth development back in Auckland. Most likely the right man to jump in at short notice and bring the struggling club together has best he can. A beautiful mind crunching all the player stats. A Manly legend who expressed an interest when Brown scored the job. You need journalists close enough to smell the liniment. Held in extremely high regard as one of the most promising future NRL head coaches around. Has taken Tonga from heroes to zeros and since joining St Helens has won back-to-back Super League grand finals and the Challenge Cup. Not that it seems to matter any more, but he is off-contract at the end of the season. Woolf has been an assistant at the Broncos, spent time at the Cowboys in various roles and was an assistant at the Newcastle Knights before taking over as an interim coach from?
