Flag-mantle! ANOTHER powerhouse crumbles in 'powerful' Dockers 'demolition': 3-2-1.

The Dockers looked like they were about to get the quick reply as Travis Colyer launched a long shot at goal. But more often than not the Dockers’ defence stood strong, with Luke Ryan and Alex Pearce thwarting many Brisbane attacking forays. Fremantle prior to Round 12 were ranked 15th at scoring from stoppages. “They wanted to tackle and dump, they wanted to make a statement.” Ex-Docker Neale had a few early disposals, copping a few jeers from Freo fans as Will Brodie also spent time on him at stoppages. Don’t be unselfish in that moment. I can understand his mindset, but that is not the time to be selfish.” Bailey played almost a lonehand for the Lions in the third term, racking up 12 disposals and adding a late goal to reduce Freo’s lead to 17 points at the final change. Brown added: “Always take the mark. But Griffin Logue’s selfless attempt to let the ball bounce through for a goal backfired, with the footy bouncing on its end and allowing Brisbane’s defenders to thump the ball through for a minor score. Hipwood had an opportunity to kick a second straight goal late in the quarter, only to miss to the right and ensure the Lions took a one-point lead into the main break. After struggling to handle the Lions’ early heat — Brisbane led by a much as 14 points in the second term — the Dockers slammed on six goals to three in the third term then held strong in the fourth quarter to record a 14-point win, 15.9 (99) to 13.7 (85).

AFL Round 12 Bailey Banfield stars, Fremantle Dockers beat ... (ESPN)

Bailey Banfield was the unlikely hero as Fremantle claimed another prized AFL scalp with a 14-point win over Brisbane at Optus Stadium.

Shirts were ripped and headbands lost as almost every player on the field converged to take part in the melee. But he keeps rocking up, working on his game, and he gets reward for effort today, which is great." The Lions closed to within 11 points early in the final term, but two clutch goals to Frederick, Banfield's snap on the run, and a long-range bomb from Lobb helped seal the deal. The 24-year-old made the most of his chances on Sunday, with his three-goal burst in the third quarter proving crucial. "Our footy stacks up. Andrew Brayshaw (39 disposals, nine clearances) and Caleb Serong (31 disposals, six clearances) played huge roles in the midfield, and the experiment of playing Griffin Logue (seven marks, two goals) in attack continued to pay dividends.

Dockers triumph in willing contest with the Lions (The Age)

Fremantle have made another big statement of claim on this year's premiership beating Brisbane by 14 points in Perth.

The class of Zac Bailey was their most potent threat – his four second-half goals kept the Lions in touch until late. Will Brodie had a purple patch in the centre, and it was Banfield – so often the Dockers’ medical substitute this year – who reaped the spoils with three clever goals. It was a mistake, but one that typified the Dockers’ selfless approach. Andrew Brayshaw was heroic for the Dockers, his two-way running and leadership a model for his teammates. It looked and felt like a taste of September – the intensity was high, the Perth crowd partisan, the feeling between the two clubs more than willing. The Lions and Dockers entered this match second and third on the ladder respectively, midway through the season.

Docker demolition seals thrilling win over Lions in the west (AFL)

Top-four clash lives up to the hype as Fremantle surges home to record memorable win.

His kick from 40m was on target, but Logue was in a position to do the safe thing and mark in the goalsquare. Neale was also prominent in his first game against his former club since round two, 2020, having missed both clashes last season. They are now the best midfielders on their opposing teams, and the pair went head-to-head on Sunday. Brayshaw was outstanding and didn't take a backwards step around his former landlord, laying several hard tackles on Neale and catching him holding the ball on one significant occasion. It was a blooper on another fine day for Logue, whose aerial competitiveness in attack has been just what the Dockers need with Matt Taberner sidelined. He chose to shepherd the ball through instead and it bounced on its end and back into play, with the Lions cleaning up. In attack, Bailey Banfield came from nowhere to boot a career-best four goals, while Rory Lobb and Michael Frederick kicked three apiece.
