ReAmped Energy Is Actually Telling Its Customers to Switch to ... (Gizmodo Australia)

Energy provider ReAmped Energy is urging its customer base to switch providers, amid concerns that its power prices could almost double.

“With prices this elevated, every extra customer we have increases the need to buy more, extremely expensive, electricity in the future. This is unlike any event we have seen in Australia before,” the ReAmped Energy email reads. This news comes at a pretty big time for the energy market, amid a change of government, rising energy prices and AGL’s failed demerger.

'Unprecedented': Electricity customers told to find new retailers (The New Daily)

Small energy retailers are urging their customers to switch to other companies in an unprecedented move driven by rising wholesale electricity prices.

As for the ongoing effects of higher wholesale costs, Mr Wood said it was possible that more retailers would ask their customers to jump ship in coming months, but noted the broader effects on industry-wide competition would be limited. In a statement released on Tuesday, ReAmped Energy CEO Luke Blincoe said the company wanted to be honest and tell customers they should be looking to switch energy companies “ASAP”. The latest to encourage its customers to jump ship is ReAmped Energy, which followed fellow retailers LPE, Discover Energy and Weston that moved earlier in May.

Energy company tells customers to leave before prices skyrocket (9News)

In what might appear an act of corporate suicide, an Australian energy company is urging customers to jump ...

Blincoe said higher prices would be around for at least the rest of the year, but he was "very confident" ReAmped will be back "and strong as ever". "If we can't offer the best deal, to not tell our customers would be shabby." "We thought we would be upfront and tell our customers to get the best deal they would have to leave us.

An Australian energy company has told customers it is in their best interests to switch to another retailer as soon as possible to get a cheaper price.

“Other than by giving you the best advice we can.” ReAmped Energy suggested to another customer to find a retailer offering a “decent fixed rate”. “It guts us to give you this advice but we’re a purpose driven company and we set out to make it better for our customers and the planet, and right now with the way the energy market is we simply can’t do that,” he said. “With the state of the Australian electricity market, the best thing you can do is leave ReAmped Energy and find another retailer,” he said. The company agreed but added: “It’s more that prices need to increase by heaps to stop us making that loss when we buy electricity in advance (called futures) – but the outcome is the same, yes.” “Several retailers have already started to pull up the drawbridge so customers need to act fast to get themselves onto a better deal now before it’s too late,” he said in a statement.
