“DOH continues to work to ensure that the Grand Islander takes action to remediate the building and other possible sources of exposure,” said state epidemiologist Dr. Sarah Kemble in a press release. Flu-like symptoms include coughing, shortness of breath, muscle aches and a high fever. According to the CDC, one in 10 people who get sick from Legionnaires' die from the disease due to high fever and a buildup of fluid in the lungs that can make it hard to breathe.
