Inside, the car reminds me very much of a Tesla with what looks to be a vertical vent and a portrait floating central touch screen. Thanks to its slipper shape, its drag coefficient is only 0.23, but it’s much larger than the DMC-12 measuring 4,995 mm long, 2,044 mm wide, and 1,370 mm tall. It's also not immediately clear when the DMC Alpha5 is expected to become available, where it will be built or who is funding this project. The company is targeting a driving range of 300-plus miles out of a battery pack that's at least 100-kWh in capacity, and top speed is pegged at 155 mph. Having acquired the remainder of the original company's parts inventory and later the brand's name, trademarks and logos, this Houston-adjacent company has been promising to build electrified DeLoreans since at least 2011, and this Alpha5 looks to be the result.

After several months of teasing a new electric vehicle, the DeLorean Motor Company has officially unveiled its first EV, the DeLorean Alpha5.

That said, DeLorean will fully unveil the Alpha5 in Pebble Beach later this summer, and it’ll be available to see in person from August 21st at the Concours d’Elegance event. It’s worth noting that DMC is using the popular Porsche Taycan as a benchmark for many of its specs, suggesting the Alpha5 will surely be plenty fast and have a lot to offer.
