The senator grew up in Canberra, where her father, Paul Davey, was an ABC press gallery journalist and federal director of the Nationals, the party she joined in 1998. “It was fun, but it was freezing cold,” she says of that movie set. “I didn’t have a telly for three years, it was just the ultimate off-grid experience,” Davey said. “I’ll hold them to account.
