Modder brings even better co-op to Elden Ring this weekend (Polygon)

For those who aren't inclined to mod their games, or those who don't game on PC, there'll also be a collection of Twitch streams with a set of bug-hunting alpha ...

All of these restrictions exist for sensible game balance reasons, as the developers at FromSoftware likely want there to be some challenge still present when summoning help. This is in addition to Elden Ring’s strict co-op boundaries, which limit the summoning of cooperative partners to certain areas and automatically dismisses them when the nearby boss or den of enemies is cleared out. The news comes from LukeYui’s YouTube channel, in the form of a groovy new video showing off what folks can expect should they take the mod for a whirl when it becomes available for public beta testing Friday, May 27.

Congrats, Blaidd's Voice Actor Read Your Horny Elden Ring Tweets (Kotaku)

Blaidd's voice actor agrees the half-wolf is a very good boy and can be a naughty one as well.

Although most of the tweets Arthur read were as innocuous as a horny Twitter post could be for a 2D video game character, one tweet proved to be too much for even this adventurous-seeming voice actor to read aloud. While Arthur’s embarrassment at reading comments about Blaidd being “thicc and hot” occupy its opening minutes, things took a turn for the better in the video’s latter half. Today fans of Elden Ring’s breakout furry husband Blaidd the Half-Wolf are eating well, as his voice actor not only read y’alls’ terminally down-bad tweets for the NPC wolfman, but leaned into them with gusto.

Obi-Wan and Dr Strange Elden Ring builds duel to win pop culture (PCGamesN)

Elden Ring builds of Doctor Strange and Obi-Wan Kenobi fight to decide which is the dominant pop culture franchise this month, Marvel or Star Wars.

So, who wins between Star Wars and Marvel? Watch ’til the end to find out. Doctor Strange, of course, had elegant robes, various powerful Elden Ring spells and incantations, and an equally stylish beard, so both players were pretty equally matched. You can see the full fight below.

Elden Ring Player's Attempt to Ambush Invader Goes Horribly Wrong (Game Rant)

In a moment straight out of Looney Tunes, a player captures the moment a ladder camper falls to their death while attempting to knock the player off.

Instead, as opposed to an extremely patient Elden Ring rune farming hunter, the host managed to turn themselves into a meme straight out of Looney Tunes. However, it didn't seem like the host was ready to make contact with dat_bass2 only to phase through their body and end up falling off themselves; first of all, it makes no sense, and secondly, the ladder should have stopped the host from flying off. That ladder player was Reddit user dat_bass2, who took the video as well as offering a title of advice: do not use an attack that lunges forward while aimed at a ladder.

Elden Ring Seamless Co-Op Mod Gets Release Date (Game Rant)

Elden Ring is getting a fully-fledged co-operative multiplayer expansion mod later this month, and alpha testing is already underway.

The release of a proper, fully-fledged co-operative multiplayer mode is bound to get many players back into the Lands Between, however. The Seamless Coop mod, on the other hand, is adding hugely important multiplayer functionality for players that just want to enjoy persistent co-op gameplay with friends. Charming as these might be at first, these systems come in the way of regular co-operative multiplayer action in more ways than not.

What Happens In Elden Ring? The Game's Story, Part 7: Castle Sol ... (GameSpot)

There's a secret place hidden within the Lands Between, where the downtrodden are safe and where two demigods might make the world a better place.

Again, there are gaps here, but we can infer that Latenna might have been trying to lead the Albinaurics of the Liurnia village here, to Ordina, when they were attacked by Ensha. The Albinaurics seem to have been fleeing to a new home, a place where they could live without being forced to serve others, as it seems they are in Liurnia, or persecuted and murdered, as they were at Volcano Manor. The ghost at the top of the castle suggests that Castle Sol and Niall worked for Miquella in this regard, trying to use the eclipse to restore Godwyn's soul, with Miquella seemingly offering them a place at the Haligtree if they were successful. The ghost suggests that failure meant that Niall and the spirits of his men were stuck in the castle endlessly, guarding the medallion piece, but unable to reach the Haligtree themselves, much like the headless mausoleum knights who've endlessly dedicated themselves to protecting the wandering mausoleums. There are a lot of weird things that this is doing to the Lands Between, seemingly--you can even find Godwyn's body--but for the time being, the important part is that this left Godwyn as a sort of vegetable, and Miquella had apparently hoped to do something to help his half-brother. Digging into the knights of Castle Sol, we can get a bit more of a sense of what they're up to. With Destined Death, both the body and the soul can be killed--that seems to have been the natural way of things. But Marika changed reality by altering the Elden Ring, removing Destined Death and causing souls to return to the Erdtree when they die, creating what we know of as the Golden Order. The second half of the medallion is located in Castle Sol, a stronghold in the mountains. The Grand Lift of Rold will take you to another location, but only if you have a special medallion in your possession when you use it. In the Mountaintops of the Giants, we can see what Latenna was trying to achieve and what Sir Gideon Ofnir's man, Ensha, was trying to find when he slaughtered everyone who lived there. If you invade the Haligtree to face Malenia, are you making the world of the Lands Between a better place, or a worse one? To get there, however, you have to find a secret path through the Mountaintops of the Giants.

Elden Ring - How To Beat Godfrey, First Elden Lord (GameSpot)

The final fight before entering the Erdtree is a classic FromSoftware test of perfect dodging.

He will wind his arm back and attempt to grab you by the throat, lifting you in the air and throwing you into the ground. Dodge to the side to avoid. - Hoarah Loux's Earthshaker. He will let out a roar (which can knock you over but doesn't deal damage), jump in the air, and come crashing down at you. Dodge to the side to avoid the grab. (Later in the fight, he will sometimes begin this move by jumping at you from afar rather than running). If he connects, he will throw you in the air, and slam you back into the ground. Dodge any direction out of the way of the axe, and stay out of the way to avoid his crash down. He will run at you, dragging his axe behind him, and then pull it out of the ground in an upward slash. After this move--for as long as the white aura is above his head--his stomps will create a shockwave, rather than the rock black AOE. This is both a blessing and a curse: His stomps' shockwave AOE will now all span the entire arena; however, unlike the previous stomp, this move can be rolled through. A moment after, the fissure will erupt in an AOE blast. Black Knife Tiche is the best Spirit Summon for the fight; she will stay aggressive up close, giving you plenty of time to set up your own attack. It's a true test of skill, but memorizing his moveset will lead you to victory. Only one thing stands in your way: Godfrey, the first husband of Marika and original Elden Lord.

Elden Ring almost included Dark Souls' most controversial feature (TechRadar)

A fresh datamine suggests Elden Ring almost included a weapon and armor durability system, which was scrapped before launch.

In the third entry in the series, weapons have such high durability, degrade so slowly, and are reset so often that the feature is more of a forgetful add-on than an essential gameplay mechanic. Some Dark Souls players found the system an aggravating slog that prevented them from using their favorite weapon when they wanted it most. Elden Ring doesn't include a weapon and armor durability system, with your gear remaining effective for as long as you have it.

'Elden Ring' Is About To Get True Co-Op This Week (Forbes)

Too many games see a wish for open world co-op and think that means players want an MMO, when really, all they want to do is play with a friend or two. Obviously this could create some problems in practice, but if it manages to work as intended, this seems like a pretty transformative experience that should make for a lot of fun. However, that’s about to change through a new, incredibly impressive-looking mod.

Elden Ring Mod Pits Every Demigod Against Each Other in a Battle ... (IGN)

An Elden Ring modder has orchestrated the ultimate Battle Royale, pitting each of the game's demigod bosses against one another.

People have played it using a Fisher Price toy, the Nintendo Switch Ring Fit controller, and someone has even made a working VR version of the game. Elden Ring has also been beaten in under seven minutes by a speedrunner, completed without taking or dealing damage, and fans are also modding every other entertainment franchise imaginable into the game. YouTube user Garden of Eyes - who's previously modded legendary summon Let Me Solo Her into Elden Ring and pit Malenia against every other boss - uploaded a video of all six demigod bosses battling throughout a handful of different rounds with different rulesets.

Elden Ring 2: When Will We Get A Sequel? (Looper)

Fans of the series seem to also think that "Elden Ring" is far from done. "Theoretically speaking, Martin has perhaps done enough work in the world-building for a sequel to be viable, but that's still questionable." but in a different place, different timeline, different story about a ring that happens to be Elden." To commemorate "Elden Ring" surpassing 12 million copies sold worldwide, FromSoftware and publisher Bandai Namco published a press release expressing gratitude for the success of "Elden Ring." "It's astonishing to see just how many people have been playing 'Elden Ring'," FromSoftware president and game director Hidetaka Miyazaki said. "Elden Ring" is no different and is created in virtually the same vein as its predecessors. Prior to the massive success of "Elden Ring", FromSoftware had made a name for itself with the " Souls" series, a third-person RPG franchise also known for its difficulty and emphasis on strategic combat.

Every player gets all the normal items from defeated enemies and world drops. It runs through a separate launcher that does not make use of Easy Anti-Cheat, and does not rely on FromSoftware's own matchmaking systems, which the dev expects will keep players from being banned for using the mod. It allows up to four players to seamlessly explore the open world, defeat bosses, and make progress without the limitations of the normal co-op system.

Elden Ring PvP Battle Puts Obi-Wan Kenobi Against Doctor Strange (Game Rant)

If fans ever wondered who would win in a fight between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Doctor Strange, Elden Ring's PvP with creative players answers the question.

However, Strange’s attack manages to register at the same time and kills Obi-Wan. Both characters perish in the same instant and synchronously buckle to their knees as the “YOU DIED” title card appears. Now that most players who had started Elden Ring months ago have finished its story, players have enjoyed finding creative builds to experiment with in the game’s PvP system. However, a lot of Elden Ring’s fun as an action RPG comes from its role-playing.

Elden Ring - Best Ashes of War (GameSpot)

From unique defensive effects to massive AOE damage, there's an Ash of War for every build and play style.

The Ash of War is dropped by the Slender Wayfarer roaming around the bonfire. When you use Prelate's Charge, you will slam your armament into the ground, creating a plume of flames, and then charge forward for as long as your FP or stamina will allow. Raptor of the Mists is essentially a "duck" maneuver to avoid attacks. It doesn't deal much damage on its own, but the real power is in its unique ability to force all enemies together in a small area. The windup time is substantial, but part of what makes this Ash of War so powerful is the Super Armor is grants you. If you're an archer, Rain of Arrows is the most important Ash of War to add to your collection. You won't be able to get your hands on this Ash of War until near the end of the game, but once you do, it's a game changer. However, the Skill is incredibly useful in fights with the game's smaller, faster bosses, such as Malenia. It lets you dodge through the most dangerous attacks, and reappear behind the enemy to get in some hits. These are the ten best Ashes of War in Elden Ring. There are tons of Ashes of War to find throughout the Lands Between, and almost all are viable options... Just a few hits can bring even the strongest bosses to their knees for a Critical Attack. On the other hand, some Ashes of War don't need synergy so much as they require practice and skill.

Elden Ring players pit Obi-Wan Kenobi against Doctor Strange (TechRadar)

Watch the video below to see the resolution, although we reckon a re-match is probably in order. Both characters have been created to look like their respective namesakes, and built to mimic their abilities. One character was built to ape the lightsaber-wielding powers of Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the other styled as a riff on Marvel’s resident spellcasting sorcerer-superhero.

Seeing as the latter ID is left unused, it may turn up in potential future Elden Ring DLC. It's also likely FromSoft spared us whatever other monstrosity a larger version of the Revenant could have been. There's a single set of legs, and despite the large number of arms attached to its body, it appears they instead organically grew from the creature itself. No one feels any sorrow for the screaming Royal Revenants, but it turns out, they may be in more pain than they're causing.
