English producer George Fitzgerald has announced a new album due out in September with the first single “Cold” a euphoric and accessible cut of electronica.

Check out the first single “Cold” below. For those needing a ‘sounds like’ this certainly feels in the worlds of Tourist, Bonobo, Caribou and Four Tet. The album is said to be an ‘interpretation of the sound of complete freedom’ that ‘explores this sense of life without boundaries.

Composer and performer Jessie Lloyd describes herself as a song-keeper of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music.

“A lot of the songs that we consider as well known Australian songs now actually have roots in the Torres Strait and beyond,” she said. Ms Lloyd said looking into the songs could provide clues into the history of the continent, ways of life and the music produced down the line. “The elders and communities and families have entrusted me with these songs,” Ms Lloyd said.

Getting back to this place is part of their ongoing journey. Wilco recorded most of Cruel Country live with few overdubs, making it their most organic-sounding LP since A.M. It's overlong, though, and whatever narrative may exist is held together by the laid-back, late-night closeness of the performances. This time out, though, Wilco greet their homeland with native folk-country sounds that make the work more inviting.
