Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 movie review: Don't go expecting any light touches, or any hummable music like Part I in Kartik Aaryan-Kiara Advani film.
Not Kartik Aryaan though, who appears to have just walked from the set of one of his previous films, the hair never combed, the cockiness never reined in. The comic parts offer only temporary relief, particularly as the butt of jokes are almost always the same unfortunate four, who appear to be there for solely that purpose. Such gallivanting one day brings him to her, a.k.a Reet. She is the kind of rich girl who rebels against her traditional family to study medicine, and then never gives her “four years of hard work” any more thought. The reason being that the villagers fall unquestioningly for his lie that he is a medium with extraordinary sensory powers. How are the many, many people who inhabit it, young and old, and those rendered of indeterminate age courtesy the get-ups, related to each other? There is a maze in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and one that is never satisfactorily resolved.
Kartik Aaryan, Kiara Advani and Tabu starrer Bhool Bhulaiyya 2 is truly a terrible mistake that director Anees Bazmee should not have committed.
The charisma that is required to play Ruhan is missing in the screenplay and so Aaryan is unable to rise above mediocrity. 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2' is exasperating, to say the least. Instead, she overhears that it is actually her cousin who is in love with her fiance and so Reet devises a plan, to pretend to play dead till everyone gets over the shock of her death and gets her cousin married. Kiara Advani's character is perhaps the dumbest character written in Bollywood in recent times. Now Reet decides to hide in the family's old ancestral home which has been locked for decades as it is believed to be haunted by a ghost named Manjulika. She obviously convinces the aimless Ruhaan to be a part of this plan. Reet calls up home to inform their family that she is fine but due to a bad network, no one can hear her voice.

While Kartik Aryan gives it his best shot, the film solely rides on Tabu, who slays as Manjulika.
Cinematographer Manu Anand does a good job of shooting the jump scares and ghost antics in the film. The dialogues are sharp, occasionally, and leave you in splits. Even child actor Samarth Chauhan, who plays the supremely annoying kid Potlu, does a fantastic job as he makes you almost want to smack him. The chemistry between Kiara and Kartik is definitely on point. Does Kartik match the flamboyance of Akshay? The answer is no. In fact, he, along with the characters played by Sanjay Mishra and Ashwini Kalsekar, makes you laugh the most.
The Anees Bazmee-directorial has released in 3200 screens in India and 629 screens globally, totaling to 3829 screens.
