This is set to be one violent, sweary, rude season and we can't wait. If you are thinking that things couldn't get much more extreme than what we saw in season 2 of The Boys, then you are in for a treat. The relative peace doesn't last for long, though, with the introduction of Homelander rival Soldier Boy and a new substance that makes you into a superhero for 24 hours - just what Butcher needs to 'level up' against the suspicious superheroes.

The Boys Season 3: Welcome the Soldier Boy, Payback and the ... (Comic Years)

The latest trailer of The Boys Season 3 gives a glimpse into what's next. And trust us, what's next is darn good.

Finally, for those of you waiting for the release date of The Boys Season 3, we have great news. Judging from the trailer, Soldier Boy seems to be one of the more powerful characters and we hope that he plays a major role in The Boys’ Season 3. This does mean that some of the members of Payback might be omitted or changed. There have been many iterations of Soldier Boy and we aren’t sure which one will be included in the show. If you look at a picture of Soldier Boy and read a little bit about his abilities, it’ll be easy to point out who he’s based on. Just as good as the previous seasons of the gritty superhero parody.

The Boys Season 3 Trailer: Why the Series Is Veering Closer to the ... (IGN Africa)

Prime Video's extremely NSFW superhero series is even more comic book-accurate in Season 3.

Soldier Boy is the leader of a team called Payback in the comics. But just as in the comic, we see that there’s a huge risk in using the weapon of the enemy against them. Up till now, probably the single biggest difference between the TV series and the original comic is that, in the latter, Hughie, Billy and the rest of the team have actual super-powers. The Boys risk becoming just as twisted and bloodthirsty as the people they’re fighting against. However, we only see a brief glimpse of Victoria in this footage. The Boys are still walking the straight and narrow path, even if Billy doesn’t seem too happy to be a law-abiding citizen again.

The Boys suffered a little bit from second album syndrome in season 2, with the writers seemingly unable to maintain the pace that made season one such an engaging, propulsive watch. But, in The Boys season 3 trailer, a handy serum is purported to give short-term power to whoever ingests it (huge sports-doping vibes off this one), and Butcher can’t resist the opportunity to level the playing field. Could this be the undoing of Butcher, who seemed to be on the brink of total collapse in last year's finale?

Prime Trailer has released a promotional video for the upcoming third season of their hit superhero series, The Boys. Now that they've seen "the actual"

Moreover, he appears to be much more on the point of snapping than normal in the first teaser trailer we’ve seen. The Deep, on the other hand, is still on its way out. MM and his family are back together, Frenchie wants to take Kimiko dancing, and according to Kripke, Billy is “on the edge of being a terribly problematic figure.” The Boys’ season 3 is scheduled to premiere on June 3rd, 2022. The Boys set itself unique by bringing a lot of adult content, violence, and more to the superhero genre. The comic adaption of Garth Ennis and Darrick Robertson’s comic was Prime Video’s biggest hit yet in 2019.

The Boys S03 Trailer: So What Does It All Mean? BCTV Daily Dispatch (Bleeding Cool News)

Along with a look back at our television coverage, this BCTV Daily Dispatch breaks down what you need to know about The Boys S03 trailer.

And it looks like he has a whole ton of pent-up power that he needs to burn off fast (has us thinking back to that destroyed building earlier). As for Soldier Boy being a "weapon" to take down Homelander? We can't help feeling like that plan isn't going to work and that SB & Homelander are going to have a lot more in common than they realize. From there, we get some quick cuts of guns and violence (with bonus points for Laurie Holden's Crimson Countess putting her powers on horrific display) before Homelander once again references showing his "real" self to the world (as he did earlier) before offering his own public polling: "I mean, they fucking love me." From there, we get more cuts of action & violence, and let's just say that we're not big fans of the position that Tomer Capon's Serge aka Frenchie finds himself in (though the dance number with Fukuhara's Kimiko looks great). And Mother's Milk breaking the bat on Butcher without him even flinching? and Starlight as the new leader of The Seven? I've always thought that Vought has some kind of genetic "killswitch" it could flip on Homelander if it needed to… We get the rundown from Grace (Laila Robins) about how Butcher has been on the straight-and-narrow: not killing supes (though we see him damaging Sean Patrick Flanery's Gunpowder pretty badly), not drinking, and "even followed Hugh Campbell's [Jack Quid] orders without killing him." Though if we needed a reminder, we get that disturbing cow-milking scene and Homelander gently caressing a bloodstain on he lies next to it.

The Boys season 3 trailer reveals that the show is better than ever (Bam! Smack! Pow!)

The newest trailer for The Boys season 3 on Amazon Prime has hints of the comic book series and more surprises than expected.

The newest trailer revealed that he’s nothing like the version in the comics. In The Boys comic book, The Seven were responsible for the destruction of the Brooklyn Bridge. The public believes it was terrorists. Plus, in the comics, M.M. was on the bridge when it happened. Even worse, Marvin Milk’s (M.M.) family may have been in the building. The newest trailer showed that Butcher was following Hughie’s orders – something that must be driving him crazy. The second part of the plan comes in the next section. There were two things that came with The Boys’ newest plan. Also, this writer wouldn’t be shocked if the powers were permanent. The ending also revealed that she was the one blowing up people’s heads. The Boys Season 3 on Amazon Prime Video is right around the corner. This season will begin the road to the series finale and it starts with Homelander. With the public behind him, Homelander is right: He can do whatever he wants.

The Boys: How Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy "Shakes Things Up" in ... (Den of Geek)

After a lifetime of battling demons on Supernatural, Jensen Ackles is prepared the assume Soldier Boy's shield on The Boys season 3.

I thought that that was a really interesting commentary on society and on a lot of the entertainment industry as a whole. It’s like you have a peak, and then if you’re lucky, you can sustain that peak for as long as you possibly can, but I think that was a really interesting commentary on this superhero world, that you kind of get aged out and you get forgotten. Not to give anything away, but there’s some old footage of Soldier Boy that we see on TV. Creating that content that we see, we didn’t just shoot a couple of seconds, which is probably all we see [in the show], we shot the whole thing. That was really fun to play and to dive into a bit. After watching season two and knowing Kripke the way that I do, I knew that he would just continue to level up. The Texas-born actor first became well known to TV audiences thanks to a handful of superhero adjacent roles in the early 2000s.

When the full trailer for The Boys Season 3 finally arrived several days later, many fans quickly made the connection between its theme of retribution and Payback's title. This is the first time Soldier Boy has demonstrated this ability in any of The Boys' promotional footage.

And The Boys season 3 is going to be more than happy to provide all that gore… “She has this really interesting ongoing storyline,” Kripke says of Neuman. “We gender flip the character from the books, but this idea that there is this secret superhero is just a really interesting bomb in a briefcase, you know? “I do remember during episode three hearing the head of the makeup department talking to someone about ordering more blood. All of the characters have choices to make.” The fun stuff is figuring out the exploding bodies.” On The Seven side of things, Starlight and Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott) will have to recover from their titanic battle against Homelander and Stormfront. The Deep is still stuck in his Church of the Collective purgatory, while A-Train is on his way back into The Seven’s good graces. Yet in the world of The Boys, superheroes or “supes” are very much real. “He’s kind of the original superhero in this world,” Ackles says. Adapted from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s 2006 comic series of the same name, The Boys imagines a world in which the public is obsessed with superheroes. And that’s something that season 3 is perfectly happy to do. But as Kripke, Karl Urban (Billy Butcher), Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko Miyashiro), and Laz Alonso (Mother’s Milk) take their places on the hopefully comfortable stools we’ve provided, the conversation eventually goes to where most conversations about The Boys inevitably end up: the verisimilitude of superhero orgies. Depicting the outlandish in the most honest way possible has become a hallmark of Amazon’s massively successful superhero satire.

The Boys Trailer Supports A Huge Soldier Boy Season 3 Theory (Screen Rant)

The Boys season 3's trailer reveals how Soldier Boy is released from captivity, but the scene might also confirm a major team-up theory.

Then, once their leader inevitably hits rock bottom and kicks the habit, The Boys look to Soldier Boy for assistance once again. Nevertheless, Butcher and The Boys freeing Soldier Boy from captivity paves the way for an eventual alliance once the legendary supe calms down. In the very final scene, a hairy and disorientated Soldier Boy emerges from some kind of cryogenic chamber. Soldier Boy makes his The Boys debut in the aftermath of Homelander suffering a very public downfall. The prospect of Homelander becoming an even looser cannon prompted some to theorize Soldier Boy and The Boys team up to bring him down. Does The Boys season 3's trailer confirm a huge team-up between Soldier Boy and Butcher's Boys? From Karl Urban's laser eyes to last season's seismic Victoria Neuman twist, The Boys season 3 offers plenty of reasons to get excited, but Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy might just be this season's feature attraction.

There's something seriously wrong with Homelander in The Boys S3 ... (Ars Technica)

"I may be a superhero, but I'm also just a man who fell for the wrong woman."

We already knew that the first episode is entitled "Payback"—the name of an earlier Vought group of superheroes, loosely based on Marvel's Avengers. Payback members include Eagle the Archer, who appeared in S2 of The Boys (played by Langston Kerman). He's the one who recruited the Deep (Chace Crawford) and A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) to the Church of the Collective before the cult turned against him. A fictional Seven on 7 news report last summer informed us that Eagle had quit the superhero gig and is now trying to become a rapper. The most elite superhero group is called the Seven, operated by the Vought Corporation, which created the supes with a substance called Compound V. The Seven is headed up by Homelander (Antony Starr), a violent and unstable psychopath disguised as the All-American hero.

If what you like most about The Boys is Antony Starr as Homelander, you absolutely must check him out in the criminally underrated action drama Banshee. In the 2013-2016 Cinemax show, Starr plays an ex-con freshly out of prison who assumes the identity of Lucas Hood, the new sheriff of the small town of Banshee, Pennsylvania, and its surrounding areas after the real lawman is killed in a bar fight before anyone in town knows who he is. Part of the Marvel universe, Legion follows David Haller ( Dan Stevens), the son of Professor X who is diagnosed with schizophrenia and placed into a mental institution, where he begins to suspect that he may have superpowers. If Happy! was a person, it would already be in that room in its own straitjacket, and then it would eat The Boys. As far as The Boys pushes the line of decency, Happy! stage dives headfirst over it, following disgraced police detective Nick Sax ( Christopher Meloni) as he drinks and snorts his way toward death while moonlighting as a hitman. Just know that it's a lot different from The Boys in that it harkens back to the classic TV adventures of the old days — you won't find porn parodies or dolphins getting squashed — as it tells the story of a team that travels back in time to stop a nefarious group from rewriting history. These young heroes also have chips on their shoulders, as they try to crawl out of the shadows of other more famous superheroes from the same universe, putting it in the same vein as The Boys' caped heroes who aren't always looking for truth and justice. If The Boys was a person, you'd throw that demented maniac into a straitjacket and lock it in a room with padded walls. The best part of The Boys is the notion that not all heroes are heroic, and that's doubled down on by The Suicide Squad, James Gunn's film about the famous DC superhero team made up of superpowered convicts. The TV adaptation never lets up on the blood and guts that seemed unfilmable in the comic, making it an easy transition for fans of The Boys. That sense of goofiness pervades the action-comedy, which is full of gory violence, weirdo superheroes, meme-y conversations, and the greatest and silliest opening credits sequence we've seen on TV in a long time. Consisting of eight episodes, all of which are animated in different styles, some involve characters we already know (like Chace Crawford's The Deep) and some don't, but they're all darkly funny and touch on the same themes we've come to expect from The Boys. In one episode, Awkwafina voices a woman who takes Compound V and befriends her sentient poop; in another, the tone softens into something more emotional to tell the story of an older Korean couple who try to prolong their time together. All in all, it's a fun series that won't take up too much of your time (the longest episode clocks in at only 15 minutes) and will satiate you when what you really want is more of The Boys' particular brand of storytelling. But with weeks to go and our rewatch of The Boys Season 2 finished, what can we watch until Season 3 comes out?
