Federal election live: Scott Morrison and Anthony Albanese face off ... (ABC News)

Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese go head-to-head in the second leaders' debate as the federal election campaign enters ...

Albanese: "The difference between myself and the current government and Scott Morrison is that we will try to do what we can in measures and structures to improve real wages. And what Scott did not tell you about the AAA credit rating was that it was achieved under the former Labor government, we were the government that achieve that and it has been maintained but the truth is, there is an enormous amount of waste and reports in this budget." They are not doing that out of choice, they are doing that out of choice, they are doing that to try to get by and that is why one of the things we need to do is to address wages. Albanese: "It's true to say that young Australians are finding it more and more difficult to get access to the great dream of home ownership. We need to make sure that Australians can have faith in it and that is why we need to do whatever we can to create institutions and structures that enhance that faith in our political system." I brought my party together, brought by coalition together, brought by coalition together by getting to net zero by 2050, that is something that took a lot of leadership to bring my party together in the unity." but is interrupted by Uhlmann to clarify that wages will rise faster than inflation - i.e. will rise quicker than the cost of living. We have an economy that is growing faster than the advanced economies of the world and lowest… Morrison: "From time to time, I will disagree with people and they won't agree with the position I am taking, whether deciding to put the national interest first and not by the French submarines. The cabinet has to decide whether there can be an investigation so a minister comes before you about something like Leppington Triangle or some of the other rights and scandals and they get to decide whether an independent integrity commission, we will have legislation this year if we are elected." We made sure we were manufacturing vaccines in Australia with the AstraZeneca vaccine, and we ensure that when we have the setbacks, I put in place the director-general to do this under a military command, to ensure we got the vaccination program back on track. And what we achieved is, we ensure that everyone who wanted a vaccine could have one in the middle of October. That was only two weeks out from the original deadline that we set ourselves at the start of the year.

Federal election 2022: Channel Nine blasted over 'embarrassing ... (Daily Mail)

The second leader's debate between Scott Morrison and Anthony Albanese has been marred by a series of embarrassing glitches.

He said Labor would implement all 55 recommendations of the Respect at Work report. He said his government had invested to address family violence and had announced election commitments fund endometriosis and IVF support. He credited himself with 'blowing the whistle' on aged care by calling a royal commission into the sector. Clicked Coalition for a gag, and as I went to click it again it worked immediately. 'Was pressing Labor for over a minute, decided to record and tap a few more times - nothing. 'Due to exceptionally high traffic some of you may experience issues with voting in our poll. It makes for painful, unwatchable viewing.' That's Mario, what do you say to him,' she asked. But the first time I clicked 'Coalition' and 'Morrison' it accepted it. He who interrupts more is right?' one man wrote. He who shouts loudest is heard? I tried 20 times to click 'Labor' and then 'Albanese' for PM. It would not let me.

“The pair of you have had more than enough time. “You all agreed to the rules this evening. “The difference between myself and the current government and Scott Morrison is that we will try to do what we can in measures and structures to improve real wages,” Mr Albanese replied. You agreed … You agreed to these rules before coming on the program tonight.” On her third attempt to move the discussion forward, she had to remind the men of the rules they had agreed to prior to the debate. Once more, she tried to interject, saying: “Mr Morrison and Mr Albanese, this is enough, we do need to move on”.

Nine's embarrassing leaders' debate fail (NEWS.com.au)

Australians watching Channel 9's broadcast of the Great Debate have expressed frustration over technical issues preventing them from casting votes online.

“We are experiencing high volumes of traffic at the moment. Please bear with us and you will have the chance to have your say,” it read. “You still have time to scan the QR code on your screen and give your verdict about who won tonight. If you are struggling with the website at the moment, please be patient and refresh and you will get through,” she said. Others showed the answer “coalition” was given twice in response to the question, “which party do you think will win the election?”. Many have however been unable to select answers to the questions, which included if they had decided who they would vote for, which party would win the election, and who would make a better prime minister.

Then Prime Minister John Howard had said the graph was distracting. His opponent, Kevin Rudd, launched a petition to preserve its inclusion in broadcasts and invite supporters to “be a friend of the worm”. Only a week after unveiling a positive message for his bid for the Lodge, Mr Albanese concluded his remarks not by appealing to a “better future” but by attacking Mr Morrison for allegedly not taking responsibility for the failings of the government. The Prime Minister upgraded an earlier expression of regret for his choice of words: “It was a race, Anthony, and we shouldn’t have described it in those terms.” One of the more interesting moments came when Mr Morrison was under scrutiny for previously saying the COVID-19 vaccine rollout was “not a race”. Any signs of equivocation on a six-point plan might well have been the cue for a contestant to be pushed into a previously unacknowledged swimming pool.
