Almost there! Ange all but secures title dream after Celtic thrashing (Fox Sports)

The win all but secures the Scottish Premiership for Ange Postecoglou's side, as the Hoops now sit nine points ahead of Rangers. Watch the world's best ...

The third goal that Celtic so desperately craved arrived with almost 20 minutes left to play, as Taylor floated a cross in from the left and found an unmarked Matt O’Riley at the far post who cushioned the ball on his left foot before passing the ball into the back of the net. He headed the ball back across the face of goal and Hoops striker Kyogo Furuhashi got his head to it, nodding the ball over the line to gift Celtic the lead. Hoops midfielder David Turnbull won the ball back deep in his own half before passing the ball to Jota who was loitering near the halfway line in the middle of the pitch.

Scott Brown praises Callum McGregor ahead of title glory (thecelticstar.com)

Broony believes that it will be Callum McGregor and not James Tavernier who will be lifting that trophy a week today and is not in the least bit surprised at ...

“That’s probably a lot to do with the way they’ve been treated as people by Cal and by the manager. I think the lads that are still there have learned from last season and it’s been brilliant to watch then.” Scott Brown announces his retirement from playing. In the thick of the battle he is always calm and composed and that’s what inspires people when the chips are down. “There have been a lot of changes in personnel so they needed a Scottish guy who knows the club and loves the club to bring it all together. “When the team is struggling you want players to look at their captain and see him leading the fight. But Cal always makes sure he speaks to everyone and that’s what you want in a leader. “There have been a lot of changes but he’s been through the whole transformation like an absolute rock. That’s when you realise how important he is to the team. “He studies his own stats and he wants to better them all the time. “Yes, this season was always going to be a hard one for him but he’s been absolutely flying since the start. While at Aberdeen fulfilling a coaching and playing role, Broony couldn’t say too much about what was happening at Celtic as Callum McGregor picked up his reins to captain the club and Ange Postecoglou set out a remarkable re-building job. “A lot of younger players take all that for granted but Cal had that mindset right from the start.

Ange Postecoglou in spiky Celtic radio exchange after imminent title ... (Scottish Daily Record)

The Parkhead boss is on the brink of glory but one question seemed to irritate him after dispatching Hearts.

Speaking to BBC Sportsound's Kenny Macintyre, the reporter asked if Postecoglou would prefer to get the title wrapped up this weekend by way of Rangers dropping points, or alternatively win it at Tannadice on Wednesday. But if they get three points then it will be on to Wednesday night's full Premiership card and Celtic can get the job done in front of what is bound to be a massive travelling support. Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is on the brink of glory after a 4-1 win at home to Hearts put the Hoops a point from the title.

It will have hurt today and the result especially will have been frustrating as the Gorgie outfit barely laid a glove. Kyogo's goal was definitely over the line for the second goal and Robertson's wristwatch made sure it counted. The Hearts goalkeeper was outstanding for his side this afternoon and prevented the Jambos from conceding seven or eight in Glasgow. It means the lead is nine points and the goal difference is significant in the leaders' favour so it was little surprise fans celebrated the win with perhaps a little more gusto than usual.

Celtic FC news round-up: Win over Hearts, Ange Postecoglou BBC ... (The National)

CELTIC all but mathmatically secured the Scottish Premiership with a 4-1 win over Hearts this afternoon.

It was fitting on the day that they started their long victory lap that Hearts were the opponents, as it neatly bookmarked the turnaround in Celtic’s season since those tumultuous days. It was Hearts who defeated Postecoglou’s side at Tynecastle on the opening night, after all. But, while showering praise on Celtic, Sutton couldn't resist a pop at rivals Rangers as he insisted they have "choked this season" in the league. After the 4-1 win over Hearts Postecoglou was quizzed on whether he'd rather win the title tomorrow through Rangers dropping points or wait to do it in their own match. It has become a mantra of the Celtic boss and all within the dressing room at Parkhead to take things one game at a time. CELTIC all but mathmatically secured the Scottish Premiership with a 4-1 win over Hearts this afternoon.
