'Career-best form': Eels star lauded by legends as big change ... (Fox Sports)

The Eels broke the Panthers' 21-game winning streak at home, courtesy of a strong Mitch Moses performance, with NRL legend Corey Parker declaring the star ...

“And that has an influence... “There is an air of confidence around him this year, I know he is a confident young man but there is an air of confidence about him that he knows his game, he is comfortable where he is,” Fox League’s Greg Alexander. “Good on him, he is very influential for this side and when he is playing they go well, he is a big part, if they want to turn around this premiership drought, he is a big part of it.” “The most impressive thing for me for Mitch is his temperament, he had this tendency in the past couple of seasons to get really frustrated and fade out of the game,” Marshall explained. “He is the type of half that doesn’t just run to get a run up on the stats, if there is an opportunity to run he will run, but I thought his balance in his game tonight was outstanding.” “And deliver that, and what he does is he puts the team in positions to play their best footy and tonight along with his kicking game, and also what he was doing with Dylan Brown, putting him a bit wider, putting Gutho onto the ball, that’s what it is about for Mitch.”

Eels stun Panthers to win Battle of the West (NRL.COM)

Parramatta have ended the Panthers' 21-game winning streak at BlueBet Stadium with two late tries stunning the defending premiers 22-20 in the local derby.

The Eels will take on the Roosters in another blockbuster on Sunday afternoon. We were really happy with how aggressive we were in defence, it was just discipline that was letting them off the hook and they were excellent. He had the [knee] operation today and he was still hopeful he would be able to come but they said 'no way'. That was probably around lunch time and he was super confident in the boys, particularly with their leadership that they could get the job done. That game came down the 80th minute and the game against the Storm came down past the 80th minute. - Penrith scored a try before half-time to level the scores at 10-10. - Parramatta hit the lead through a Reed Mahoney penalty try.

Parramatta snap Penrith's NRL record home winning streak with ... (ABC News)

Penrith have lost their first home game in almost three years after Parramatta upset their western Sydney rivals.

Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad's return to the Canberra side was somewhat short-lived, taken from the field with a leg injury in the second half, while Josh Papali'i remained on the field after appearing to hurt his leg. From the next play Kikau was able to kick for Taylan May to score, with the powerful second-rower also putting his winger over with a deft ball early in the second half. And suddenly when Dylan Edwards let a Mitch Moses bomb bounce on the next set and Dylan Brown chased through to score, Parramatta led 22-14 and victory was in sight. Leading 14-10 with with 18 minutes to play and after dominating the second-half tug-of-war, the Panthers made an uncharacteristic mistake with James Fisher-Harris putting the ball down on halfway after a set restart. In doing so Parramatta became the first team to beat Penrith at the ground since Canberra in July 2019, a time when lockdown-inducing pandemics were a thing for Hollywood movies. With coach Ivan Cleary watching on from his hospital bed with an infected knee, the Panthers gave up a 14-10 lead with 15 minutes on Friday night to go to suffer their first loss of the season.

Eels outmuscle Panthers in huge win (Wide World of Sports)

One of the most impressive winning runs in NRL history has come to an end, as the Eels stunned the Panthers...

Penrith were back on even terms right on the bell after a brilliant grubber from Viliame Kikau to winger Taylan May, but it was the build up that was the talking point at the break. The game couldn't have started much worse for Parramatta - they lost their challenge within a few minutes of kick-off after a Hayze Perham error was reviewed, and things didn't get much better for the winger as he was steamrolled by Dylan Edwards for the opener shortly after. Penrith, impenetrable at home for nearly three calendar years and undefeated in the NRL in 2022, were stunned by a Parramatta side who fought fire with fire in the forwards, and did enough with ball in hand to come away with a 20-18 victory.

Watching from his hospital bed, Panthers coach Ivan Cleary saw his team lose their first home match in three years in a controversial but thrilling derby.

From the next play Kikau was able to kick for Taylan May to score, with the second-rower also putting his winger over with a deft ball early in the second half. And when Dylan Edwards let a Mitch Moses bomb bounce on the next set and Dylan Brown chased through to score, Parramatta led 22-14. It took the visitors just four minutes to capitalise, with Gutherson putting Ryan Matterson through a hole to give the Eels an unlikely lead. Leading 14-10 with with 18 minutes left and after dominating the second-half tug-of-war, the Panthers made an uncharacteristic mistake with James Fisher-Harris putting the ball down on halfway after a set restart. "I said to the players after the game, in nine years now I think it's the proudest I have been in my time at the club," Arthur said. It marked the Panthers' first loss of the season, in a ferocious western-Sydney derby that was not without controversy and came down to a missed Nathan Cleary two-point field goal in the final minute.

Mitchell Moses' Parramatta Eels future laid bare - Rugby League News (Serious About Rugby League)

Mitchell Moses is set to test the open market at the end of the NRL season. In doing so, question marks have been raised over his value – how much is he ...

“That will be a fascinating process if Mitchell, one of their biggest names declares that he is going to go beyond the finals to test his worth.” “The question is what is he worth it and the understanding at this point in time is the Eels will have to get to around that million dollar mark to retain him,” Riccio added. “That’s the million dollar question because as we see the rise in interest for halves, the debate will be that Mitchell Moses is contracted to the Eels until the end of 2023,” The Daily Telegraph’s David Riccio said on NRL 360.
