Leeds United vs Man City live updates (Leeds Live)

Blow-by-blow live updates from Elland Road and the Premier League match between Jesse Marsch's Leeds United and Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

Clash of heads between Koch and Lapore in the City box. Klich has been promoted to a starter in the drill. Gundogan tracks back well and blocks the shot from a wide angle inside the box. Phillips intercepts in the centre and catch City out. Visitors have the better of the territory, but Meslier not hugely tested yet. Rapidly putting himself at the heart of the game. Lovely, pressured move builds and builds until the ball falls for Firpo on the far side, in space. Visitors having a rough patch and Leeds in fine fettle attacking through the thirds. Aside from a set-piece goal, City have not done a lot to trouble the goalkeeper. Cries of shoot from the crowd. Rolls to Jesus and Sterling gets put through for a good chance, but a superb Struijk slide blocks the shot. Leeds applying pressure and looking for those transition moments to hurt the leaders.

Report: Leeds United 0-4 Manchester City (Leeds United)

Premier League. Leeds United 0. Manchester City 4 (Rodri 13', Ake 54', Jesus 78', Fernandinho 90'). Leeds: Meslier (GK), Ayling (C), Firpo (Gelhardt 62'), ...

It was second-half substitute Fernandinho who fired home a low effort on the edge of the box. A deep corner saw Dias head the ball back into the middle of the goal where Nathan Ake was well-positioned to stab home and double the advantage for the visitors. Foden had caused problems all afternoon and was the architect again, sliding the ball in for Gabriel Jesus to finish beyond Illan Meslier. There had also been quite a few stoppages in the first half for both sides to contend with. A slip in the City defence from Ruben Dias allowed Rodrigo to race through on goal, but his effort from a narrowing angle was well blocked. Frustratingly for Leeds, City scored with their first real attempt of the match.

Player Ratings: Leeds United 0-4 Manchester City (Premier League) (Sports Illustrated)

It was a tale of two set-pieces at Elland Road as Manchester City kept themselves top of the Premier League with three precious points with a 4-0 win over ...

Like Sterling and Jesus, he squandered a fantastic chance to make it 2-0. Fouled regularly and once or twice the referee even blew for it. However, there was no mistake when he made it 3-0 late on- that was a very nice strike. Embarrassing defenders with his trickery is now a weekly hobby for Foden. Used his physicality wonderfully to head it down for Ake and create the second goal. Wasted a late chance, not that it matters too much, and then got a great late block in.

Bizarrely, some decided to target Raphinha as he took a corner too, much to the Brazilian’s understandable bemusement. Both players received treatment for over two minutes and Laporte lay stationary on the pitch for the duration of that time as he was examined by Manchester City’s medical team. The pressure on both sides was ramped up due to results elsewhere earlier in the day.

Highlights and reaction as Man City overcome Leeds (Manchester Evening News)

Manchester City have moved straight back to the top of the Premier League standings courtesy of a 4-0 victory over Leeds United.

He could have done with a little help, mind, when sending in a delivish cross from the lef-hand side. He did get a shot away but, as with the follow up from Grealish, it was no real threat to Leeds. City still need to be on alert, but the scoreline is much more under control now. City are belatedly working to slow the game too, and that Jesus goal will wrap up the result. For the majority of the game, we were quite good and we were unlucky not to have a smaller gap in the scoreline. It is a long season and this is the last effort. Changes for Leeds - some enforced - mean they are going to end this game with Harrison and Raphinha as wing-backs. No armband for the well-loved Brazilian midfielder as he came on to the pitch, but he has managed to grab himself a rare, rare goal during that cameo. They are two goals to the good, but have not been at their breath-taking or manipulative best. But in the end we had control and could have scored more. We knew coming here the way they play, we suffered a lot in the first half. Before the match we wanted a good performance and that's what we had.

But in the end we had control and could have scored more. With Nathan Ake on the pitch, we are so strong. He told Sky Sports the league leaders had been made to work for victory at Elland Road, saying: "We knew coming here the way they play, we suffered a lot in the first half. "For the first one, the line's all over the place. "What a game Laporte played, he is doing an incredible season. We hope Coops isn't that bad. That one we feel.

Leeds came out firing in the second half, but it was City who scored first, Ake turning it in from another set piece on 54 minutes. City recovered well and had a string of chances in front of the home side's goal before they eventually took the lead on 13 minutes when Rodri glanced the ball past Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier from a curling Phil Foden free kick. Leeds put up a good challenge to the Premier League champions, but struggled to keep a hold on the ball in key areas.

Leeds United vs. Man City result: Champions romp back to top of ... (Sporting News AU)

Leeds United showed lots of fight, but not enough end product in their 4-0 loss to Manchester City. The visitors kept their composure better in a high-tempo ...

Jack Grealish could be in the midfield three, alongside Rodri and Gundogan, or it could be a 4-2-3-1. They've had a few corners, but Meslier hasn't had too much to do in the first ten minutes. Meslier still hasn't had too much to do, but he's had to pick the ball out of the back of his net. 48th min: The ball is moved out to Grealish on the left. Second half: It looks like Raphinha will be playing on the right for Leeds. He's holding a fairly deep position, and City will be glad to see him away from their goal. 89th min: The Leeds fans are still in good voice, and they can be proud of what they've seen today from their team. He cut the ball back, and Klich slides to meet it next to the penalty area. To their credit, Leeds continued to press and harry, and they didn't seem to lose hope, but they still offered too little in the final third. 92nd min: Klich makes a run down the right, and the ball is lofted into his path. Guardiola's side notch up a comprehensive win to respond to Liverpool's victory earlier on, and they boost their goal difference in the process. Leeds continued their approach for the rest of the first half and, in truth, City found them very hard to deal with. Leeds were aggressive, both on and off the ball, and regularly looked to disrupt City's rhythm when out of possession.

We simulated Leeds United vs Man City to get a score prediction (Manchester Evening News)

Manchester City travel to Leeds United on Saturday in the Premier League, so we simulated the game for a pre-match score prediction.

Two late substitutions saw Guardiola introduce Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva in an attempt to try and turn the game on its head. Kalvin Phillips found Rodrigo just inside the box with his back to goal, and the Spaniard did well to hold off Joao Cancelo and turn towards goal. As the game went on, confidence grew within the Leeds camp, and the home side took a shock lead with 10 minutes remaining. The well organised Leeds defence limited City to long-range efforts, and when a pocket of space opened up outside the area, De Bruyne took aim. We used FIFA 22 to get a score prediction for Leeds against Man City on Saturday and this is what happened. After their 5-1 win over Watford last week, City remain on top of the Premier League by a single point, with Gabriel Jesus putting in his best performance of the season as he grabbed four goals.

City return to summit after stern Leeds test (Manchester City FC)

City ensured Liverpool's stay at the Premier League summit was brief following a hard-earned but ultimately comfortable 4-0 victory over Leeds United.

It is a long season and this is the last effort." "We knew coming here the way they play, we suffered a lot in the first half. But in the end we had control and could have scored more. "What a game Laporte played, he is doing an incredible season. - This is the fourth time City have scored 10+ goals against an opponent within a single Premier League season; Watford in 2019-20 (12), Norwich in 2011-12 (11), Tottenham in 2013-14 (11). And now Leeds this season (11). "They are so fast up front. City return to the top of the table, a point clear of Liverpool with four games remaining. The Leeds players pressed extremely well and were physical and determined - this was a stiff test and a fantastic victory for the Blues against a good Leeds United side. Again, it came from a Foden set-piece – this time a corner – knocked deep into the Leeds box for Ruben Dias to nod down and Ake to sweep home from a couple of yards out with 64 minutes on the clock. And there was still time for a fourth goal as both sides missed chances in the time that remained as Fernandinho, on as a late sub, drilled home from 20 yards on the day he posted a new Premier League record for the most appearances by a Brazilian. It was turning into a energy-sapping contest for both teams and the urgency for City to get a second goal and something of a cushion was growing by the minute – and nine minutes after the restart, Ake provided exactly that. In the tinderbox atmosphere of Elland Road, it was vital City got off to a solid start and quieten down the home support as quickly as possible.
