Shannon Curry testifies in defamation trial that ex-wife of Johnny Depp, 36, displayed 'overly dramatic presentation'

The housekeeper disputed she had ever seen Depp “passed out drunk” but acknowledged he had once fallen out of a hammock and had been found lying beneath it. He didn’t do anything”. She later noticed that Depp had a “mark across the bridge of his nose”, she said. They’ll make threats using the legal system, threaten to file for a restraining order, claim abuse.” Heard, she said, flitted between “princess and victim”. Depp, 58, claims Heard abused him. As sophisticated, “cute and girlish” as such people may present, Curry said, they “may in reality be very destructive”, “dramatic, erratic and unpredictable” and possessed of an “underlying drive to not be abandoned but also to be center of attention”.

A Psychologist Hired By Johnny Depp Testified That Amber Heard ... (BuzzFeed News)

Shannon Curry said she believes Heard was "grossly exaggerating" when asked about having PTSD symptoms.

Based on her evaluation, Curry told the court on Tuesday she believes that Heard does not have PTSD and was "grossly exaggerating symptoms of PTSD when asked about them." In court on Tuesday, Curry added that she believes Heard has histrionic personality disorder, and its key features are drama and shallowness. (Depp previously testified that he responded to conflict with Heard by trying to leave, for example locking himself in a bathroom.) Curry said when psychologists see this code type, it's best to follow up with the patient's subordinates, coworkers, and others "who may have observed their behavior more closely." A tactic people with borderline personality disorder may use is physically assaulting someone else and then "getting harmed themselves," Curry said. Her testimony comes as lawyers for Depp and Heard have tried to paint the other as the aggressor in their violent marriage.

On day nine of the Depp v Heard trial, the court heard about an argument in which Heard labelled Depp "a washed-up actor" who would "die a fat, ...

From what was in the garbage and what was left out..." During the row, Ms Roberts said she could see Heard "clawing, grabbing at [Depp's] clothes... The court also heard remote testimony from Tara Roberts, the estate manager of Depp's Bahamas residence. She said she that she took Depp away from the situation to a café on the island, where she put an ice pack on his nose and he "slept for the rest of the morning". Doctor Curry rebuked that theory, saying her diagnoses were based on evidence. You'll die a fat, lonely old man." She says Depp accuse Heard of "hitting me with a can" and that he had "bruising on the bridge of his nose". then using the legal system... Doctor Curry said that was not the case, she merely asked her husband to "pick up muffins because I was running late", adding that she and Heard "enjoyed the muffins together". Heard's lawyer, Elaine Bredehoft, also claimed the doctor was "so excited [about taking on the high-profile case] that she told her husband she was going to be conducting an examination of Amber Heard" although it was "a highly confidential matter". Additionally, Doctor Curry described Heard as "grossly exaggerating symptoms of PTSD", saying that when the questions she put to her "seemed random" she believed that Heard tried to "minimise" any impression of a disorder, but when questions put to her revolved around trauma she felt Heard would "exaggerate". On day nine of the Depp v Heard trial, the court heard about an argument in which Heard labelled Depp "a washed-up actor" who would "die a fat, lonely old man" and a disastrous family trip on a yacht that Depp would later sell to JK Rowling.

What Amber Heard's alleged Borderline Personality Disorder means (New York Post)

A psychologist for Johnny Depp's defense testified on Tuesday that ex wife Amber Heard may suffer from borderline personality disorder.

Moreover, those with either disorder are prone to rush into relationships out of their deep desire for a new partner’s admiration, and end them just as quickly, as soon as that initial shine fades — all of which makes the pairing a potentially volatile combo. Relatedly, those with histrionic personality disorder tend to have a penchant for the dramatic while exhibiting attention-seeking behavior. Her statement led later testimony on that Heard had shown dubious signs of abuse, such as LAPD Officer Melissa Saenz who “did not identify her as a victim of domestic violence” when called to the couple’s home in 2016.

What is Histrionic Personality Disorder? What psychologist said ... (NationalWorld)

What is Histrionic Personality Disorder? What psychologist said about Amber Heard in Johnny Depp trial. Forensic psychologist Dr Shannon Curry told the court ...

“The legal team used personality disorder to discredit a woman because they believe it positions her as insane and unbelievable. “Diagnosing a woman with BPD or HPD is the go-to tactic of a legal team intent on discrediting a woman. Let’s not begin perpetuating stigma - anyone and everyone can be s**tty, not just those with personality disorders.” “Histrionic personality disorder was borne out of the ‘hysteria’ diagnosis, which could only be given to women. Thousands of women are going through the same thing as Amber as we speak, not knowing how to protect themselves or defend themselves from a psychiatric diagnosis they didn’t even know existed. They are also, very often, and very successfully, introduced into family law cases, private law cases and even criminal law cases where a woman is reporting domestic or sexual abuse. “It is vital that everyone understands that these diagnoses are not broadly accepted medical conditions, they are highly contested, controversial psychiatric labels. Unfortunately, none of these beliefs are accurate. “They tend to distance people who are close to them. They’re very socially sophisticated actually.” Dr Curry added that the instability of a borderline personality disorder can be driven by a “terror of abandonment”. A forensic psychologist has said that Amber Heard displays signs of a personality disorder which involves “extreme effort to be the centre of attention” as the defamation lawsuit between the actress and her ex-husband Johnny Depp continues in the US.

Doctor Who Evaluated Amber Heard for 12 Hours Says Actress ... (PEOPLE.com)

Dr. Shannon Curry testified that Amber Heard showed signs of borderline personality disorder and histrionic personality disorder.

The psychologist was also asked about having dinner and drinks at Depp's home before she was placed on retainer. In March 2021, his attempt to overturn the decision was overruled. The hotline is available 24/7 in more than 170 languages. Histrionic personality disorder, according to Mayo Clinic, is a condition "characterized by dramatic, overly emotional or unpredictable thinking or behavior." Yet inappropriate anger, impulsiveness and frequent mood swings may push others away, even though you want to have loving and lasting relationships," the group adds. She said she met with Heard "on two separate dates," Dec. 10 and Dec. 17, 2021, for about 12 hours total face time. It includes self-image issues, difficulty managing emotions and behavior, and a pattern of unstable relationships." Dr. Curry said in court Tuesday that "there was information that supported" her conclusions in her evaluation of Heard "from multiple sources," including a test the psychologist conducted herself and "evidence of those diagnoses in her records and in her self-report." In her testimony, Dr. Curry said that those with the condition can tend to take on a "victim" or "princess" role with false stories. Dr. Curry also said she saw no evidence of PTSD in her evaluation of Heard but noted, "Just because somebody doesn't have PTSD doesn't mean that they weren't harmed psychologically by whatever is being alleged — in this case, Ms. Heard is alleging that she was psychologically harmed and that she suffered PTSD because of abuse that she alleges occurred by Mr. Depp." On day nine of Depp's defamation trial against Heard, 36, in Fairfax, Virginia, Dr. Shannon Curry told the court that she was asked to "provide a psychological evaluation of Ms. Heard" back in October 2021, but was never asked to do so for Depp, 58. Dr. Curry reviewed "all the case documents" as part of her evaluation of the Aquaman actress, as well as Heard's medical records (including for "mental-health treatment"), audio and video recordings, photos and "multiple witness statements."
