Collingwood star Brodie Grundy has suffered a serious injury in Collingwood's win over Essendon in the Anzac Day game.

"Another ruckman goes down with a PCL... I've said it for years... you dramatically increase the chances of a PCL," the former Roo tweeted. This PCL setback to Grundy comes off the back of another ruckman going down to a similar injury in just a matter of days.

Brodie Grundy clashed knees with Sam Draper in a ruck contest during the Magpies' Anzac Day clash against Essendon.

Even with Cox back in the VFL, Begg has been used as the first ruck with Cox playing from the goal square and relief ruck. The 28-year-old Grundy is a dual All-Australian and Copeland Trophy winner. McRae said he had mapped out a plan with Cox in the VFL and in training to try to recapture his form. Scans on Tuesday morning confirmed he had damaged his PCL in the clash. He clashed knees with Essendon ruckman Sam Draper in a ruck contest, and The Age confirmed on Tuesday morning that Grundy had injured the posterior cruciate ligament in his knee. More importantly he had six marks for the game.
