Dockers now 'genuine contenders'; the 'devastating' blow that cost Carlton: 3-2-1.

“I think just in terms of the system and the way they play, we know Carlton have been a really good stoppage team this year. “Been an incredible game from the skipper. trying to get more out of his team,” North Melbourne great Wayne Carey said. Cerra was able to be part of the chain that ended with Matt Owies kicking the first of the match. They haven’t played any of the top teams yet. “The young stars are now standing up for this football club. Twice Lachie Schultz took uncontested marks inside forward 50 and made the Blues pay. You can only beat who is put in front of you and that’s what they’ve done,” Carey said. Carlton are also sweating on Harry McKay’s fitness after he spent time off the ground with a knee injury. Who have they played? Without Pittonet in the middle, Fremantle started to dominate through the middle and kicked six goals to two in the second term. Pittonet had to be assisted from the field after a ruck contest with Sean Darcy, and was subbed out of the game a short time later.

Dockers down Blues as both sides lose key talls (AFL)

The Dockers burst clear with five consecutive goals in the second quarter and never looked back, led by Lachie Schultz and Rory Lobb with three majors each as ...

The Blues managed only one goal in the third term of their past three games, so this was a slight improvement with both majors coming from captain Cripps, but with a 32-point deficit, the game was basically lost. Carlton's poor third terms have plagued them all season and the issue reared its head again, the Blues managing only 2.2 against Fremantle’s 4.3 in the premiership quarter, after trailing by 19 points at the long break. Carlton won the disposal count (380-357) but lost the inside 50s (56-38). Minutes later, Sonny produced a trademark moment with a wonderful dribbling finish. The 31-year-old former All-Australian has been down on his usual output in 2022, having kicked 2.6 coming into this game. Fremantle led by five goals after two more from Lobb early in the third quarter, while Cripps kept them alive with two of his own.
