He missed three set points in the 12th game but recovered from that disappointment to clinch the tie-break to force a decider. "He was the one controlling the game. Djokovic could not match a strong start from the World No. 50 as Djere carved out break point opportunities in all four of the top seed’s service games in the opening set. Even after so many years of experience and playing many times in front of the home crowd, you still feel nervous." "I liked the way I managed to physically hold on and push through and survive a thriller of almost three-and-a-half hours," Djokovic said post-match.

Tennis is a sport in disarray as the world reacted to Wimbledon's sensational ban on Russian athletes.

“A fundamental principal of the WTA is that individual athletes may participate in professional tennis events based on merit and without any form of discrimination.” “This is unacceptable. I think it’s the wrong decision. Us in Serbia we know what was happening here in 1999, ordinary people always suffer – we’ve had lots of wars in the Balkans. I think this is not helpful. “And as much as I feel for the Ukrainian players and Ukrainian people… I just feel like Wimbledon is doing this more for their own gain, for good optics rather than to actually help. Novak Djokovic was one of the first to controversially declare the decision should be overturned. Players are great part of propaganda and big example to their fans. I pray for your family.” Anyone who thinks that decision like this one is targeting players personally is pretty selfish. Ukrainian player Marta Kostyuk though disagreed with Millman’s take, replying: “Ukraine needs peace and freedom that we are dying for right now.
