Jordan Poole followed up his impressive playoff debut with 29 points in Game 2 as the Warriors take a 2-0 series led over the Nuggets.

This guy puts the work in every single day in the gym and believes in himself, and he's got a lot of skill." “Jordan is doing some of the same stuff Steph does and that’s tough," Green said postgame. "The beauty is that he has been able to balance all of it, the shooting, the driving, and then setting up guys with some crazy passes and getting everybody involved, that's another evolution of his game.

The Third Splash Brother Has Arrived (Sports Illustrated)

Inside look at Jordan Poole's emergence in the NBA playoffs. Plus, how the Timberwolves and Grizzlies are playing by their own rules.

But even if he doesn’t return, Dallas may have found Utah’s kryptonite, and that may be enough to make this a series with or without the superstar point guard. (To be fair, we’ve also seen it toward the end of a few Utah collapses this season, when Gobert and the Jazz didn’t contest the perimeter after a switch. Utah has been a sieve on the perimeter all year, but Monday was especially shameful, considering how big it would have been to take a 2–0 lead on a team that could get its perennial MVP candidate back in the lineup in the coming days. It looked exactly the same as last year’s Western Conference semifinal series against the Clippers, in which Los Angeles repeatedly goaded Gobert out of position to be able to make a quick pass to a wide-open shooter along the arc. The man is going to make a lot of money this summer. When it comes to breaking the conventional rules, Minnesota did that most in Game 1, beating the grit and grind originators at their own game and on their home floor. But whether Adams is in the rotation plenty or not, rest assured: There should be plenty of shotmaking, loose-ball scrambles and mean mugging to go around either way. But even though Memphis got outworked on the boards, don’t be surprised if we see Steven Adams for a shorter amount of time than his 24 minutes in the last contest. As The Athletic’s Fred Katz laid out, Minnesota—one of the NBA’s worst defensive rebounding clubs—won the rebounding battle and managed to limit its live-ball turnovers to just three in Game 1 despite Memphis being the best squad at forcing those sorts of miscues. Poole, a fantastic passer and shooter, is still on a rookie deal rather than a max one (though he’s eligible for an extension this summer). He also has one of Curry’s best tendencies in the sense that he moves extremely well without the ball, leaving defenses uneasy and confused about where he’ll be on the court at any given moment. It’s a shame that Game 2 of perhaps the most fascinating first-round matchup will be showcased on NBA TV, where fewer folks will see it. It was perhaps the clearest sign that he was back to being Steph again.

Milwaukee's Jordan Poole taking a star turn in the NBA playoffs for ... (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)

Jordan Poole, the Milwaukee native who has steadily increased his role with the Golden State Warriors, is on another level in the NBA playoffs.

Poole came off the bench in 2014 for state-qualifying Rufus King, a squad that lost to eventual state champion Germantown in the semifinals. Poole finished his third season in the league with 76 games played and 18.5 points per game, with 4.0 assists and 3.4 rebounds. The Wolverines then made it all the way to the championship game, where they lost to future Bucks draft pick Donte DiVincenzo and Villanova. With Curry coming off the bench on his way back from a foot injury, Poole has remained in the starting lineup, and he shot 9 of 13 from the field with five three-pointers in that game. "On nights like Monday, when the Big 3 are rolling, Poole going for 29 of his own points, throwing 3-point darts from all over the court and smoking defenders off the dribble, becomes an embarrassment of riches, and the Warriors might be unbeatable," Botkin wrote. The 6-4 shooting guard added five rebounds and eight assists while hitting half of his 3-point attempts (5 of 10).

Warriors Unlock Next Level With Small Ball Lineup Featuring Jordan ... (SLAM Online)

The Golden State Warriors are currently up 2-0 over the Denver Nuggets thanks to their newest small-ball lineup featuring Jordan Poole.

You kind of live with the results, and we’ve done it for years, and he’s stepping into that now. This combination played only five minutes together in Game 1, but they outscored Denver by 14 points to shift the momentum sparking their 123-107 win. The trend is not lost on Thompson, who forecasted this type of performance after Game 1. Golden State has gone for momentum-stealing runs in the first two games that have changed momentum or put the game out of reach. Because you just have the creativity and confidence in yourself to make that play. The Golden State Warriors changed this era of offensive basketball with their many versions of small-ball lineups.

It sure has been fun watching the former Wolverine go off on the NBA's biggest stage and it's going to be a lot of fun for Poole when he sits down to sign his contract extension. With Curry coming back from an ankle injury and on a bit of a minutes restriction, Poole has gotten the start in the Warriors first two playoff games and they're up 2-0 against the Denver Nuggets. Curry himself went off for 34 points last night in just 23 minutes of action so he won't be coming off the bench for long. That might actually be an even bigger issue for the Nuggets then if Poole was in the starting lineup. Poole was in the G-League last year and is now a regular contributor and sometimes-starter for one of the league's most explosive teams. Amazingly, the duo has now become a trio with the emergence of Poole. Poole has become a bonafide scorer in the NBA and he's a major reason why NBA analysts now think the Golden State Warriors have a real shot at winning the title this year.

Is Jordan Poole Playing His Way Into a $100M Offseason? (Front Office Sports)

Jordan Poole is the 11th-highest-paid player on the Warriors, but he's in for a big extension this upcoming summer.

But Poole could make that a moot point with a prolific rest of the postseason — and maybe become a $100 million man. The 22-year-old is rumored to be seeking $80 million over four years, but one pundit noted earlier this season that his price tag could increase well above $100 million “if he explodes in the playoffs.” After blowing out the Nuggets in Game 2, Golden State’s Draymond Green vowed to start a petition if Jordan Poole doesn’t win Most Improved Player of the Year.
