'Arms out is 50, mate': AFL greats baffled as Lions star penalised for simple act.

“That looked like he just turned around to talk to the umpire, so if they’re gonna do it, they need to be firm on everyone.” “They brought it in for the first weekend of the pre-season games and the umpires were so hard on it, but then players have been able to get away week-in week-out. “He was actually turning around to talk, and the umpire said you put your arms out,” former Brisbane player Luke Hodge said on commentary.

AFL clash turns nasty as two stars floored by dodgy hits (Wide World of Sports)

Two ugly marking contests marred the first half of Brisbane's clash with Collingwood at The Gabba.

Gardiner leapt into the back of Daicos and tucked his arm to dig his shoulder into his opponent. "The ball wasn't within reach of Cox," Matthews said. But Cox - who did not even attempt to get a hand near the ball - leapt off the ground and aimed his knee straight at the back of his opponent.

Lions hold off plucky Pies in Easter Thursday thriller (AFL)

BRISBANE has proven too strong for a brave Collingwood outfit, winning by seven points in an Easter Thursday thriller at the Gabba.

He thumped the ball high, long and straight and celebrated his first goal in Brisbane colours by being mobbed by his teammates. It's been five years since Marcus Adams kicked a goal in the AFL, but he broke the drought in fine style during the third term. He finished with 33 for the night to continue a fine start to 2022. Scott Pendlebury lined up alongside Neale at the first bounce and probably had the better of the battle in the first quarter, racking up eight disposals to Neale's four (and a goal). However, Brisbane's milestone man got on top in the second term and gathered 14 touches in a defining quarter. The reliable Lion was reported for rough conduct and will now await his fate. After trailing at quarter-time, the Lions put the foot down with a six-goal second term and managed to keep the Magpies at bay in front of 32,312 fans to win 15.8 (98) to 14.7 (91).

A lot of these things aren’t long-term injuries and you can sub them out now.” It was a special night for both Jeremy Howe and Lachie Neale as well, who both played their 200th game on the same evening in front of a pulsating crowd in Brisbane. But the Lions struck back in the second quarter, piling on the pressure and kicking five straight goals to take a 13-point lead into the main break. Lachie Neale was dominant in the second quarter, as he ran riot with 15 touches as part of a 19-disposal first half, on his way to a 33-touch game. Darcy Gardiner could be sighted by the MRO after he was reported for a late bump on Josh Daicos in the first quarter, shoving him under the ball after he took a mark inside 50. Pies ruckman Darcy Cameron was substituted at three quarter time, with John Noble coming on and Darcy Moore being shifted forward as coach Craig McRae spun the magnets with a quarter to play.

'No presence, no influence': Brutal call on struggling Pie as AFL great mocks 'Batman' shades.

“When you look at the two sides tonight, they were almost identical in age and experience, the list profiles of tonight’s team. “I think we’ve seen enough of Kreuger now that he can play, and Darcy Cameron can certainly hold his own. “I’m just worried they’ve gone really tall tonight, they’ve got two ruckmen already, do they need Mason Cox down there? I think the guy has no presence, no influence forward of centre, I just think this experiment has run its course.” Collingwood forward-ruck Mason Cox has “no presence” and “no influence” on the team any more and doesn’t fit in the 22, according to Fox Footy’s panel of experts. “I’m wondering what the function is that Mason Cox plays for the Pies. Because there’s just no influence,” King said on Fox Footy post-game on Thursday night.
