I then had to call up the person concerned and explained to him that I didn’t mean it like that. He is introduced as the “best and the most notorious spy” who is “meaner, leaner and stronger.” Unbeknownst to them, Vijay’s character Veera Raghavan is inside the mall and takes it upon himself to fight the terrorists.
Thalapathy Vijay Beast Movie Review Update: Nelson Dilipkumar could have used this plot set-up to turn in a nail-biting thriller.
What?! He’s the hero and the ultimate sign of a hero is sacrifice, isn’t it? And when Veera steps out of his safety to face the terrorists, time slows down. After the terrorists take control of the mall, Veera safely escorts himself and a few friends to safety and finds a safe place to hide. It is a huge subversion of the expectations of hardcore fans. So he quits RAW. Call it the good fortune of innocent people or a stroke of bad luck for a group of Pakistan-based terrorists, Veera unexpectedly ends up in a shopping mall, which gets hijacked. No matter how maverick and rebellious the director is, he has to whip up a series of events, creating anticipation and setting the ground ready for the entry of the hero.
This is pure entertainment fodder for Vijay fans and one should rightfully expect the same from it - Beast movie review out!
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying there’s nothing significant here, but there are a lot of insignificant speed-breakers which become the issue. As one would expect from the director, he has designed scenes for Vijay to exhibit his machoism and that’s totally fine because he owns them all. Veera goes on to live a simple life leaving his job and tumbles into Preethi ( Pooja Hegde) who is engaged, but of course, falls for Veera because he’s the lead. Manoj Paramahamsa’s camera covers a 360° view around Vijay, as he leaves no corner vacant from which you can probably shoot Thalapathy. A scene involves the camera angle to do a cartwheel & Manoj achieves that with ultra-smoothness. On not so one fine day, a mall gets hijacked and Veera happens to be there with Preethi and a few of his people. The thrilling story does intrigue you using its smart traps but it just loses momentum on switching between a pacy actioner, a lame love story and a moderate comedy.
Beast is the new movie by Tamil star Vijay. Like his recent movies, he works with another young talented director Nelson Dilipkumar for Beast.
Vijay is currently aiming for the number one spot in Tamil cinema. Veera (Vijay) is a RAW agent. — Beast takes off with a over the top formulaic under cover action episode. Vijay would be hoping to continue the good track record and improve the long run further with Beast in Telugu. Dil Raju backing it in Telugu states is a good sign, and it should augur well for the film if the talk is good. The theatrical trailer and the action have clicked with the youth of Telugu. Anirudh’s background score is doing wonders for Vijay like it did previously with Master. The early morning shows occupancies are good across the board, and if there is a positive talk, Beast will post good opening day numbers. He is already leading the race with back to back successful outings for a long time.

The director seems to have banked entirely on his star to carry the film, but with a script that hardly offers him anything to work with, even Vijay can only do so much with his star power. In fact, the film barely delivers the laughs in the places where it should have been funny and makes us break into a laugh whenever it tries to be a mass hero movie. The problem with Beast is that it has a protagonist who is too strong given a mission that never seems to be a challenge.
'Beast' directed by Nelson Dilipkumar features Vijay, Pooja Hegde, Selvaraghavan, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley and Aparna Das. The movie is released in.
The ticket demand is certainly high for 'Beast' as Vijay is one of the bankable actors in the South. Perhaps that is the reason why some are taking advantage of the actor's craze. As 'Beast' is releasing on a working day, it's going to be a big test for the film. Earlier, the Kuwait government banned 'Beast' to release in their territory as it portrayed Muslims as terrorists and it has a few dialogues against Pakistan. Now, the Qatar government has reportedly banned the film from release in their region pointing out the same reason. The back-to-back bans for 'Beast' have disappointed the fans. The film has reportedly stereotyped Muslims as terrorists, and it was condemned by the TN Mulsim association. Banners and cutouts of Vijay and 'Beast' poster has been erected outside theatres as well all over the state. Vijay’s father SA Chandrasekhar who has been active on YouTube the last few months, has spoken about ‘Beast’ for the first time. He soon prevents the government from releasing a dreaded terrorist, who he had helped to put in prison at great personal cost a few years back.Read full review here! Neither the script nor the execution clicked. Anirudh music is the only positive. Neither the script nor the execution clicked. As one-man army #Vijayis fab and holds this uneven mass film together & is terrific in action . @selvaraghavanis the other bright spot, music of @anirudhofficial& picturisation of #JollyOGymkhanasplendid. — Sreedhar Pillai (@sri50) April 13, 2022 Anirudh music is the only positive. #Beast: The much-celebrated mall gun shoot action scenes shown in the trailer look superb on the big screen too. And, nice attempt with the skating action sequence. "#Beast: WASTE Actor #Vijay tried his best to save the film with his fine performance but he has also failed in that attempt. Waiting for #KGF2," wrote the user on Twitter. Actor #Vijaytried his best to save the film with his fine performance but he has also failed in that attempt. While Thalapathy Vijay's fantastic, powerful performance is being lauded, cinemagoers are not happy with the "outdated plot, weak writing and poor screenplay." Another Twitter user tagged 'Beast' as a below-average film.
In Beast, Vijay is surrounded by eccentric and flamboyantly funny characters, but as cliches pile up, the irreverent jokes aren't enough to keep this beast ...
As the film progresses, the loopholes become increasingly unbearable. When the irony is not in the setting, it is in the dialogue or the performance. Not that it would be difficult, not with these militants who don’t even monitor the CCTVs efficiently. Even the jokes and references around Vijay’s political presence are well-done. It feels like some chunks have been left on the edit table. The challenge is to keep us surprised, despite all these tropes. In Beast, Vijay neatly slips into his place in this whacky world as RAW spy Veera Raghavan. Vijay is known for being exuberant on screen. This protagonist is surrounded by characters who are eccentric and flamboyantly funny. He has a protagonist who is stoic but quirky. For example, how the protagonist always walks through a barrage of bullets completely untouched. But in Beast, Vijay gets a frills-free introduction shot. But it’s a hint of Nelson’s biggest tool to surprise his audience -- subversion.

The first half of the film is watchable for its setting, the “Habibu” song, and the initial quirky presentation. The motives of the terrorists and the government’s efforts are too predictable, which we have seen in many films. Nearly 80% of the story happens inside the mall. From there, the focus stays on the hijack, the hero’s attempts to rescue the hostages, and his clever plans. Director Nelson does the same in “Beast”. Despite having Vijay as the hero, he has focused on the main plot with little or no deviation from it and has avoided other elements. He is terrific in the first half, underplaying his character mostly and being part of the story.
