It's heartbreak for Melbourne as Adelaide wins the 2022 NAB AFLW Grand Final.

The skipper was swung to defence in the second half and was a key conduit in turning up the pressure gauge, and even finished the match on the wing. Goal-by-goal report: Who will triumph in the season finale at Adelaide Oval? Find out with Jonathan Horn.

It’s a glorious day in Adelaide. There’s few better venues to watch sport. But there’s much more to this Grand Final than Pearce and Phillips. There’ll be an abundance of talent on display, with 35 All Australian blazers between them. They push numbers back and deny Melbourne the middle of the ground. Brooke Tonon and Maddie Newman were stiff to miss out, while Montana McKinnon misses after copping a one week ban at the tribunal. It’s all Adelaide so far. The Crows look a little bit tougher at the contest so far, and better organised down back. Melbourne 0.0 (0) Melbourne 0.0 (0) They’ve been outplayed, but the Crows have squandered some easy chances. Anne Hatchard keeps racking up the possessions. This Grand Final is far from a done deal for the Crows. Uphill now for the Dees.

Demons midfielder Maddi Gay limped off early in the second quarter to have her right knee and thigh taped, which left Hatchard to run riot. It was a fairytale start for Crow Hewett, who opened the scoring after an impressive mark in the forward 50. Phillips started in the centre next to teammates Ebony Marinoff and Anne Hatchard, arguably the league’s most formidable midfield trio. Adelaide jumped the visitors, restricting Melbourne to a scoreless opening term and 1.1 by half-time. Melbourne were gunning for their first flag, having been excruciatingly close to a grand final appearance every year. Daisy Pearce and her Demons have been left heartbroken at Adelaide Oval, as Erin Phillips and the Crows won their third premiership in six years in front of a home crowd of nearly 17,000.

The ball eventually falls to Gay who snaps, and misses across the face. She marks 30 metres out, directly in front and will take all the time she is allowed. Two minutes to go, we're just counting down to the celebrations now. 1': Into the last minute now, and it's a tired scramble out there. “I just wanted to be in this game and I had three kids that were potential little germ spreaders. We love coming to training, hanging out with each other, it’s just an amazing group of girls and athletes to be a part of. Blues AFLW coach Daniel Harford added: “She answered the question really well about her future. That’s something my wife Tracy and I will sit down and talk about and see what’s next in life. “This is such a beautiful moment for her and to see her so emotional was lovely.” “I haven’t thought about that.

Crows star to 'do a Dusty': Expert tips and key times in AFLW GF ultimate guide.

Ben Waterworth — Adelaide Crows by 18 points: “Before the Power enter the AFLW — and possibly pinch a few of their players — these Crows have one more flag fling left in them. It could also be her last game as a Crow, with the Power set to target the dual competition best and fairest winner ahead of their first AFLW season. (Adelaide) just crowd the corridor. Both the Adelaide Crows and Melbourne have a 72 per cent win rate – the best in AFLW history. The game was over and they kicked a couple late. She’s the one I reckon you’ve got to stop. She’s the one going contest to contest. Feels like potentially her last game as an Adelaide Crow; feels like with Port Adelaide coming in the competition.” Cathy Svarc did a good job on her last year in the grand final and kept her to 17 disposals and Brisbane won. Daniel Harford: “I’m going to Marinoff. I think she’s the key to the whole thing for Adelaide. She’s a megastar player, the first played to 1000 disposals in the competition’s history. They are on a seven-match winning streak, with their most recent loss against the Adelaide Crows in January. And you look at her grand final performance – if you want to measure it against Dusty, well she’s twice best on ground in the grand finals that they’ve won.
