West Ham battle to Europa League draw with Lyon after Cresswell's ... (The Guardian)

Gusto did not do enough to stop Fornals and when the Spaniard prodded the ball on to Boateng it ran through to Bowen, whose messy shot hit the Lyon defender and bounced over Lopes. Tomas Soucek and Declan Rice struggled to keep the ball away from Tanguy Ndombele and Thiago Mendes, although there was hope on the break. The striker’s touch had taken him away from goal, while Zouma was covering, and it felt ludicrous that there was no intervention from VAR. West Ham refused to let it happen. There were possibilities when Lyon played through Houssem Aouar and the opening goal almost arrived when Lucas Paquetá broke down the left, only for Dembélé to turn the Brazilian’s cross wide. After all, Lyon were Champions League semi-finalists two years ago and, although their domestic form has been inconsistent this season, they remain an accomplished team and it quickly became clear that they were capable of making life uncomfortable for West Ham.

Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Barcelona result and highlights: Ferran Torres ... (Sporting News AU)

Ferran Torres equalised as Barcelona drew 1-1 with Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final.

15 minutes to kick off: Barcelona won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup on three occasions, but they are looking to win the Europa League for the first time in its current guise. Barcelona look in control but the threat of Frankfurt can't be discounted. 9 mins: Gavi does well to cut out the danger following a cross. Xavi's side have yet to be beaten in this season's competition, but they have also ended up drawing their two first-leg fixtures so far. Now Frankfurt bring on Toure for Kamada. N'Dicka does well to turn in the area but he just can't quite pick out Toure. Just prior to that he got in a good position to cross but couldn't quite locate a team-mate. Frankfurt send on Hauge in place of Lindstrom. Will they be able to go in front. Aubameyang then finds the side-netting. Full-time: Eintracht Frankfurt 1-1 Barcelona. The sides are level following an entertaining first leg. The 20-year-old, who is on loan from Borussia Dortmund, struck fear into the Barcelona defence with his direct runs. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been superb in front of goal since joining Barcelona, with nine goals in 13 games.

Braga had a good plan and did what was needed after Abel Ruiz's goal put them ahead in the 40th minute, but they'll have to be careful in the second leg to ensure their lead is retained. He'd make up for it, however, scoring in the 41st minute to level things heading into the half. While Creswell won't be available for the second leg in France, West Ham have shown before that they can't be counted out of any match. It was a match that could've been a landmark victory for Frankfurt, but Tutu's dismissal in the 78th minute meant that they'd have to hold on for dear life in the latter stages. West Ham also struggled in their 1-1 draw to Lyon, but considering the circumstances, David Moyes will likely be happy with the result. Goals were hard to come by in the first legs of the Europa League quarterfinals, but red cards and drama were on display everywhere on a Thursday slate that was anything but boring.

Rangers. We are following the action at the Braga Municipal Stadium as Scottish Premiership champions Rangers look to get a positive result to take away from Portugal for the second leg at Ibrox on April 14. 30 minutes to KO: Rangers are always well supported on the road and this appears to be no different. He is optimistic that his Braga team can get the better of Rangers and has had them well scouted. To be fair the stands had looked a little empty just a few moments ago, but Carvalhal had joked in his interview the Portuguese fans always arrived late. 32nd minute: After a bright start Rangers have been under the cosh from Braga and are fortunate to be still level. 14th minute: Credit to the Braga fans who are making an absolute din in the grandstand facing the two benches. 50th minute: Ally McCoist on commentary continues to bang the drum in support of a Rangers substitution and he has a point. 18th minute: There might have been a few eyes raised about Sakala getting the nod upfront in place of Kemar Roofe but it is not hard to see what Van Bronckhurst had in mind. 35th minute: Ryan Jack is the second player in the book, and the first Rangers player, after leaving referee Massa unimpressed with a late lunge. It is deserved on the balance of play as Braga finally get the lead after hitting the post previously and having a goal disallowed. A big team talk ahead for Van Bronckhurst to try and get his side back in the match in the second half. Braga dominated the first half and should have had more than just Ruiz's goal to show for their domination.

Ansgar Knauff had given Eintracht Frankfurt the lead against Barcelona before being pegged back, while Bødo/Glimt beat Roma 2-1 in Conference League.

Frankfurt soaked up the pressure early on, hoping to hit Barça on the break, but were in danger after three minutes when Kevin Trapp tipped Torres’s shot over the bar. Marseille hold the same advantage over Greece’s Paok Salonika, despite playing the closing moments with 10 men after Gerson was sent off four minutes into added-on time. The sides then traded goals with Yira Sor giving Prague the lead in the 67th minute, only for Argentinian defender Marcos Senesi to equalise.

UEFA Europa League quarter-final second legs: What to look out for (UEFA.com)

Three of the ties are still level and the other one is far from over; can the likes of Barcelona, Rangers and West Ham reach the UEFA Europa League ...

Atalanta succeeded in cutting Leipzig's supply lines for much of the encounter, and will look to seize the game by the throat in the second leg, though their guests may have similar ideas. The first leg between Atalanta and Leipzig was deranged; both sides hit the woodwork twice, Leipzig had a penalty saved, and while it ended 1-1, it could easily have been 3-3, 4-4 or 5-5. The last time the Arsenalistas came to Ibrox, they went 2-0 up only to lose 3-2, and they may be inclined to go for broke again this time. A 1-1 draw in London looks like a good result on paper, but Lyon returned to France with some regrets, having failed to establish a lead despite being up against ten men for the whole of the second half. "It's a one-goal difference," shrugged Giovanni van Bronckhorst after his team's narrow defeat in Portugal. "[In the second leg, we are] at home, with the ground behind us. They did not get an easy ride in the first leg against Frankfurt, but the Bundesliga side will expect no mercy at Camp Nou. As Barça's German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen put it, "For the return leg, we know exactly what to do."
