When the match was over, Edge and Priest stood in the ring together, apparently beginning to form the heel faction that had been rumored. Riddle hit a springboard RKO on Montez Ford from the top rope and Orton followed that up by turning Chad Gable’s leap from the top into a catch RKO and a pin. His WrestleMania entrance included him coming up in a black chair surrounded by fire and black-and-purple ring gear that appeared to be a nod to The Undertaker. There was a bowling ball, a giant hand that slapped Zayn (who also got slammed by Wee Man) on the outside, a nut-shot machine with a boot on it and a giant mousetrap (that didn’t work properly). Knoxville, who did take an exploder suplex through a table and hit a tornado DDT, eventually got the mousetrap to close and trap Zayn for the pin. The boss, who got his first WrestleMania win in his first match since 2012, kicked a football into McAfee’s ribs. Edge recently turned heel, changing his music, look and demeanor to a more Brood-like presentation. The Universal champion got to the ropes, but Lesnar continued to move Reigns’ arm up and down while still in the hold. McMahon’s may have been the most awkward in history as he just crumpled to the ground. He then got too cocky and egged on Mr. McMahon, who is in incredible shape, into a fight. Then Theory was a footnote in the Austin-McMahon story — through he did an incredible pop-up sell job on a Stunner from the Texas Rattlesnake. One thing Theory has going for him is he has a high level of heat that was palpable from the crowd. His moment of ascending to undisputed champion in WWE will not be one of them — but an injury could be partly to blame. Here are the highlights from Night 2 of WrestleMania 2022 that featured solid matches, great celebrity outings and a Mr. McMahon-sized touch of nostalgia:

Why Roman Reigns And Brock Lesnar's Match At WrestleMania 38 ... (Cinema Blend)

WrestleMania 38 came to an abrupt end with its main event between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns, and there's speculation regarding why.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful noted that Reigns lifted both titles not long after all this and that the wrestler looked fine. At the same time, it seems odd that a scripted injury and not an actual one would lead to the abrupt end of a WrestleMania main event with time to spare. A compilation of photos from Wrestling News pointed out what looked to be some heavy swelling on Roman Reigns’ arm, and something does seem off about the champion’s tricep, though it's hard to tell how much the lights play into it.

WWE WrestleMania 39: The Rock vs. Roman Reigns and Dream ... (Bleacher Report)

WrestleMania is the stage for dream matches. John Cena vs. The Rock . Rock vs. Hulk Hogan . Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior. The list of fantasy matchups ...

Rousey was the match WWE would build to in the wake of WrestleMania 35, the latter departed the company to start a family, and Lynch would do the same a year later. The Rock feels like a match that has been built to for years now, a dream match WWE has repeatedly teased but never actually produced. Roman Reigns. A battle of family, for the right to call themselves the true Head of the Table, it is a generational showdown that has been teased and hyped for years but not as much as a promo between them has occurred on WWE TV.As WWE heads to Los Angeles for next year's WrestleMania, home of the biggest movie stars in the world, there is no better place for the live-action epic to play out than in SoFi Stadium. It is not the only dream match the company should consider for the annual spectacular, though. Following his epic return to the company at WrestleMania 38, he has the opportunity to be a consistent main event star the likes of which he was never allowed to be during his first run with the company. There is no better person for him to have to overcome to achieve that role than the man he once considered a mentor. The story is there. It is an epic encounter that starts in their DNA and ends with a tense staredown inside SoFi Stadium and an epic encounter that captivates fans.It is one match that absolutely must happen or go down in the annals as the biggest "what if" in wrestling history. Let Big Time Becks and the Baddest Woman on the Planet settle their differences once and for all in a match Lynch would have no problem selling to the masses on the mic. Every year, rumors emerge of The Great One's impending return to jumpstart the feud with The Tribal Chief, and every year, they go unfulfilled. With WrestleMania returning to Hollywood for the first time in nearly 20 years, there is no better time for the world's biggest movie star to return home to WWE and square off against the most dominant Superstar the industry has seen in years.Rock vs. An intensely personal battle and physical match, it would be right at home on a card the magnitude of WrestleMania and is a match WWE absolutely must book while it still has Rousey on the roster this time.Once upon a time, a young Cody Rhodes stood side-by-side with Randy Orton in a trio known as Legacy. The second-generation star sat under The Viper's learning tree and developed as a performer, essentially learning on the job.The faction would go its separate ways in 2010, but the link was always there. Becky Lynch will be a match four years in the making. In 2019, the two competitors battled in a historic, show-closing Triple Threat match for the Raw and SmackDown Women's Championships also involving Charlotte Flair. The intensity and dislike between them, though, was only exacerbated when The Man became the first competitor to deal Rowdy a loss in a WWE ring. But there was no follow-up.Despite all indications that Lynch vs. Roman Reigns and Dream Matches We Need to SeeWrestleMania is the stage for dream matches. WWE Raw results, recap, grades: Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes ... (CBSSports.com)

Reigns and Rhodes had two of the biggest moments from a massive two-day WrestleMania 38.

Dolph Ziggler (c) via pinfall to win the title with a military press powerslam. Later in the show, Ripley told Morgan that she'd convinced WWE officials to give them a title shot next week despite the loss and the two shared a hug. Morgan apologized to Ripley after the match and Ripley walked out. Grading the show as a whole, this was a show that was far above average. Roman Reigns, The Usos and Paul Heyman closed the show with an in-ring promo. Monday night was no different, with a very entertaining show anchored by a few surprises and many of the biggest stars on the roster beginning to lay out their goals moving forward.

What Next For Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns? (WhatCulture)

Injured or not, Roman Reigns appears to have something big up his sleeve after last night's WWE Raw.

The ambiguity of Reigns' Raw promo is particularly interesting, given talk that he may have been injured while competing on WrestleMania 38's second night. This follows last night's Raw, which saw Reigns make a special appearance alongside Bloodline allies The Usos and Paul Heyman to close the show. WWE: Predicting The Next 10 Challengers For Roman Reigns After ... (TheSportster)

With his successful defense of the title against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38, Reigns is now the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, having defeated seemingly ...

It would be the biggest match the WWE could produce, and the backstory of how this point is reached is clearly defined. While some may look at the fact that WWE's failure to create new stars and worthy challengers for Roman Reigns along the way as the reason this match is even needed, one cannot argue the appeal this would have, to both casual and committed viewers. Throwing in a Bloodline versus Imperium storyline with a few six-man tag matches on the way to the championship match, at The Royal Rumble or The Elimination Chamber, on the road to next year's WrestleMania would be intriguing, as well. In what would be a match pitting Roman against an opponent more powerful than him, the prospects of Bobby Lashley stepping up to challenge Reigns is one too good to pass on. Gunther could match Roman in the power department making their head-to-head battle a true battle of the titans. Money In The Bank in July now has its main event match, and Roman Reigns has a new, fresh & exciting opponent on the road to SummerSlam. The yet-to-be-named UK event in September would be a great place for it. A matchup of the two biggest stars in the company over the last two years. Randy Orton and Roman Reigns have had multiple encounters in the past, but this meeting would be the first time their roles would be reversed: Orton, the babyface. With two to three months of successful title defenses under his belt, Ricochet's credibility would be restored to the point where a one-on-one encounter with Roman Reigns wouldn't be dismissed. As such, WWE has a ready-made storyline on its hands with Riddle & Orton, and this matchup versus Roman Reigns could be used as a means to get there. With his successful defense of the title against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 38, Reigns is now the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, having defeated seemingly every possible challenger for his throne, and in some instances, in a rather dominant fashion.

Where Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes And 5 Other Wrestlers Go After ... (Cinema Blend)

WrestleMania 38 is in the books, but the next chapter could soon begin for these WWE superstars.

But even though Lynch doesn’t have the gold around her waist for the first time in three years, this doesn’t mean we’ve seen the last of one of the most entertaining WWE superstars. Once we get the rematch situation out of the way, there are plenty of directions Lynch could take in the future, perhaps even a program with Alexa Bliss or Bayley, both of whom should be returning soon. And following his decisive victory on the “Grandest Stage of Them All,” the future looks bright for the son of a “son of a plumber.” But if a title shot isn’t in the cards for him, Rhodes could turn his match against Rollins into a nice program. Following the match, Priest knelt down in a show of respect to Edge before both started laughing menacingly. But now that the dust has settled, new champions have been crowned, and the world is done reacting to Wee Man body-slamming Sami Zayn and Stone Cold Steve Austin wrestling his first match in 19 years, now seems about the right time to look at some of the most consequential stars of the night and speculate on what’s next for them.
