Spurs roar into Premier League top four (7NEWS.com.au)

With north London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal now neck and neck, the fight for Champions League qualification in the Premier League is hotting up.

The win lifted Spurs above Arsenal into fourth place - the final qualification position for the Champions League - but only on goal difference. Out of nowhere, Antonio Conte's team are suddenly the highest-scoring team in the league in 2022 - with 30 goals in 13 games - after they overwhelmed Eddie Howe's side. Jonjo Shelvey and Fabian Schar return to the Newcastle squad, but there's no place in the starting XI for Bruno Guimaraes after a tiring international break. Bentancur has time on his left, edge of the area, it deflects high for a corner. Allan Saint-Maximin involved already, having won a free kick on the left that came to nothing. Saint-Maximin is back in the action and the ball comes to him straight away. It could feel chilly by the time kick off comes around. Another period of Spurs pressure sees a Kane shot hooked wide of the post inside a crowded penalty area. 15th min: It's very much one way traffic, with Spurs seeing the lion's share of possession so far. Schar stands of the ball and powers it through the wall. It's scrappy in the Spurs box as they don't get it away and Willock looks to have wriggled through on goal briefly, but Romero is across to block the midfielder's shot. Kane manages to hold it up and Spurs get going. Two away losses in quick succession are an ominous sign ahead of their trip to London, now sitting nine points above the drop. This time Emerson Royal came inside, and Kulusevski is given space to cross.

FPL Saturday review: Managers move for Maddison (Fantasy)

In-form Leicester star is among most-bought players as he has 10 matches in final seven Gameweeks.

Four of Brentford’s final seven matches score only two in the FDR, giving their budget-friendly players the chance to reward managers over the run-in. Ivan Toney (£6.7m) has been their top performer in that run, his assist on Saturday taking his tally to 36 points in the last four Gameweeks. Five of their final eight matches score only two in the FDR, with De Bruyne shaping up to be a major player for Fantasy managers in the next few Gameweeks. De Bruyne has now claimed four of his top six scores this season in his last eight appearances, highlighting his form ahead of Man City’s kind run-in. Seven of those matches score only two in the Fixture Difficulty Ratings (FDR), pointing to more success for Maddison. The Leicester City playmaker supplied the assist for Kelechi Iheanacho’s (£7.0m) goal in a 1-1 draw at Manchester United.

Player Ratings: Burnley 0-2 Manchester City (Premier League) (Sports Illustrated)

Two goalscoring midfielders saw Manchester City reclaim their place at the summit of the Premier League table with a comfortable victory at Turf Moor.

Electric in the first half, assisting the first goal with a clever cutback and picking out Gundogan brilliantly for the second after making a good run to get into space. Had very, very little to do and couldn't be held accountable for the offside Burnley goal. Kevin De Bruyne struck sweetly into the top corner after just five minutes to give Pep Guardiola's side the lead, after which the result never really felt in jeopardy.

Ten minutes into the second half and on came Rashford, off went McTominay, and United had a natural spearhead but, now, United undid themselves. Liverpool lead EPL...but City grab it back (7NEWS.com.au)

Liverpool have displaced Manchester City from atop the Premier League after 119 days - but it didn't take long for Pep Guardiola's men to regain their lead.

Only David Beckham, with 18, has scored more direct free kick goals in Premier League history than Ward-Prowse's 13. Ilkay Gundogan scored the other goal. Manchester United look increasingly unlikely to capture a Champions League qualification place from the wreckage of their season, a 1-1 draw at home to Leicester keeping them sixth, four points behind Arsenal, who have two games in hand.

It is our job and duty to do our best to finish on the best possible note.” This week can decide a lot about how May will be. But two goals from Vitaly Janelt and a first Premier League goal for Eriksen since his return to the English top-flight in a 10-minute spell turned the match on its head. “A big two months (ahead) hopefully. City and Liverpool are locked in a thrilling shootout at the top of the English top flight, with just eight matches remaining of the season. But it was the visitors who took the lead in the 63rd minute when a United attack broke down and Maddison attacked down the left. Leicester continued to look the more dangerous side and had the ball in the net with 10 minutes to go when Maddison finished at the back post. But the goal was overturned for a foul by Iheanacho on Raphael Varane. United piled on the pressure late on but could not find a winner. Minutes later Leicester had a chance to take the lead but Iheanacho failed to control the ball on the edge of the area and ended up skewing his shot wide. United looked sharper in the early stages of the second half but midfielder Scott McTominay was lucky to stay on the pitch after a nasty-looking challenge on James Maddison.

Liverpool take on Watford as Jurgen Klopp's side look to go top of the Premier League. A victory would see Liverpool move two points ahead of Manchester ...

Will Jurgen Klopp's side go top of the table or will Watford spring a surprise? Jurgen Klopp's side ran out 5-0 winners when these sides met at Vicarage Road earlier in the season, but they won't be taking anything for granted as It looks as if Gomez will be at right-back today as Alexander-Arnold is only on the bench. Watford have made it difficult for Jurgen Klopp's team at times, but as things stand Liverpool will be going top of the league. Watford then create a chance themselves, with the ball falling to Sarr, whose effort goes over. Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Joe Gomez and Curtis Jones all start as Liverpool make four changes from their last Premier League game. Liverpool certainly have had things their own way and Kamara is working hard as he looks to stop Salah from making a major impact. Following the subsequent corner Cucho Hernandez requires treatment following a clash of heads. It's expected that Salah will be replaced soon, with Sadio Mane poised to enter the fray. Watford then miss an excellent chance, with Sarr playing in Joao Pedro, who drags his effort wide. 65 mins: Fabinho plays a neat pass in towards Salah, whose effort goes just over. 82 mins: Jurgen Klopp looks a little concerned, with victory still not secure for his side.

Super City win at Burnley to return to Premier League summit (Manchester City FC)

Manchester City returned to the top of the Premier League table after a brief hiatus with a 2-0 victory at Burnley.

23 - Man City are the only side yet to drop a single point from a winning position in the Premier League this season, winning all 23 games in which they’ve led. The home side set up with a 4-5-1 formation in a bid to frustrate us. It's a busy week - first we'll think about Atletico Madrid and then after that we’ll think about Liverpool." "The goal after five minutes was important but we still had to play 85 more. The pitch was difficult because the grass was so high but we adapted. This is why we’ve fought for the last 10, 11 months. Our second was equally as impressive and Sterling was again the architect. The win means City go back to the top of the Premier League table after a brief period in second. City were playing with a swagger, enjoying long periods of keep-ball. In the 2nd half they pushed more, they went 4-4-2 and they were more aggressive. Burnley were struggling to cope. No side has ever gone through an entire Premier League campaign without dropping points when ahead before.

Premier League hits and misses: Brentford storm to first league win ... (Sky Sports)

Plus: Liverpools win over Watford tees up pivotal month for Jurgen Klopps side; Man City pass Burnley test to stay top; Wolves are dreaming of Europe again ...

Only Manchester City have managed to produce that many in one game this season and they won that match 7-0 against Leeds. The problem is so obvious. Neal Maupay has shown in spurts what he can do but this performance was another reminder of where Brighton need to invest in the summer. One thing is for certain, and this has been said before, they need to find a striker that can be relied upon throughout the season. Liverpool's win over Watford was a case of job done and move on, as Jurgen Klopp's side laboured to a 2-0 victory over the relegation strugglers. Tuchel and Chelsea supporters hope that this loss to Brentford will ultimately act as a jolt to sharpen the side up for the big challenges ahead. That is a question you'd have answered with a resounding no a few months ago as Graham Potter's side looked certain for a top-10 finish. On Wednesday Real Madrid are in town for the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final. That is followed by home league matches against Manchester United on April 19 and Everton on April 24 - both live on Sky Sports. First there is the manager, whose surprise switch to a back three caught out the world and European champions. Before kick-off, it seemed Brentford's Premier League survival was more likely to rest on a clash with Watford in a couple of weeks' time. "We didn't play the best football possible today but it was enough," he said. Possibly. The best performance of the season?

Premier League predictions as our experts pick top 6 and ... (Mirror.co.uk)

Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and West Ham are all in with a chance of Champions League qualification - but how will the top six finish?

Arsenal hold all the aces, having climbed to fourth while still having a game in hand, but their record of beating the biggest teams is poor and they still have Chelsea and Manchester United to face, not to mention West Ham. No-one is catching the top three of City, Liverpool and Chelsea. They are streets ahead of the rest in terms of quality. With City and Liverpool occupying the first two places, I fully expect Chelsea to cement third spot and Arsenal to win the race for that coveted fourth Champions League slot. Arsenal still have a wobble in them - and Antonio Conte is capable of driving even an erratic Tottenham team into fourth. They have no distractions, nice fixtures, points in the bag and games in hand. Tottenham should clinch fourth spot, with United, Arsenal and the Hammers taking the Europa League places. Mikel Arteta has done a superb job to get the Gunners to improve on eighth place last season and got a lot of big calls right like offloading Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. They also have a three-point advantage and at least one game in hand on chasing Tottenham, Manchester United and West Ham. The likes of Wolves, Villa, Leicester etc have left themselves too much to do and time is running out. And I’m going for West Ham to surprise everyone by nicking fourth place, because they also have a fixture list that can help them ambush the sides above them. And Arsenal look in better shape than Spurs for that fourth spot. It is much tighter for the lesser continental cups with five points splitting Wolves in eighth and Spurs in fifth.

City completed a routine 2-0 win at Turf Moor and will head into the Etihad Stadium clash one point ahead of Liverpool with eight games left. Could Everton really be relegated? Analysing their final 10 Premier ... (FourFourTwo)

Everton sit just three points above the relegation zone after another defeat – and their run-in is not a pretty sight.

They have just six points on the road at the time of writing (three less than Norwich) and just a single win. Whenever this game is played, the Eagles will be going in favourites. But then again, Everton are bottom of the away table. A defeat in Lancashire would leave both Burnley and Watford within one win of Lampard's side. While Everton sit four points above Burnley, the Clarets are the only team below them not have played more games. Defeat away to West Ham on Sunday afternoon leaves them eyeing up a tough fixture list over the next six weeks.

Christian Eriksen could be missing link in Tottenham's revived attack (The Guardian)

While Harry Kane and Son Heung-min impressed against Newcastle, they could do with Eriksen's guile in midfield.

One searing half-volley from Kane was destined for the top corner until it struck the unfortunate Emerson clean in the face. Harry Kane has also been forced to adapt his game since Eriksen’s departure and it was his combination with Kulusevski which provided the spark for Son’s game-changing goal. “To come back here would be a good opportunity for him, for me, for the club, but now he’s signed for Brentford, only six months, and we’ll see what happens,” he said. It is a little more than two years since he left north London, having joined in 2013 as part of the splurge on players following Gareth Bale’s world record transfer to Real Madrid but at times this season that must have felt like a lifetime for Spurs fans. When Son dragged an effort wide of the target seconds after Emerson Royal had made it 4-1 to the hosts with more than 25 minutes to play, it was hard to believe that this was the same team that had struggled to create meaningful chances before falling behind so meekly. At that stage it seemed obvious that, despite the promptings of the elegant Uruguay midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur, Tottenham were in desperate need of a player who is capable of opening up organised defences.
