Jada seemed to confirm an 'entanglement' and type of romantic relationship with Alsina that happened at a time that she was on an amicable break.

In a November 2021 GQ interview, Smith addressed his wife's discussion of her entanglement with August Alsina and revealed that he had dreamt of some of his own. From then on Alsina stuck himself into music and released his first mixtape, The Product, in 2012 after relocating to Atlanta in 2011. Alsina also famously attended the 2017 BET Awards with Pinkett Smith. Alsina began by uploading musical videos to YouTube in 2007 at the age of 14. She later also denied that Will gave any blessing to Jada and August to be together, so as to suggest an open marriage. Rumours began after the Smiths would separately make public statements on their marriage and most poignantly when August Alsina came forward with his version of events.
