There arrived a moment during the third episode of the first season of Netflix's smash hit, Bridgerton, that featured the handsome Duke (Rege-Jean Page) ...
Yes, but it was about quantity for us, Chris. Bridgerton waltzed into our lives at the end of 2020 (Christmas Day, to be exact), arguably the least sexy year in history. From there, it was on for young and old (mostly young), as we became enraptured with Daphne, the Duke and their endless pursuit of pleasure. And even the most staunch Bridgerton fan would be hard-pressed to argue they fell in love with the show because of its sizzling dialogue or riveting plot. Season one was a global sensation, drawing in Netflix’s biggest audience at the time, with a record 82 million households worldwide watching the drama within its first month of streaming. But the first season of Bridgerton didn’t just tease us with inanimate innuendo; we got more actual sex than we knew what to do with. There’s even an Instagram account (@thedukesspoon) with more than 20,000 followers, dedicated solely to different shots of the Duke devouring his spoon.
Be warned, there are spoilers ahead. In the first episode, we're introduced to Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) and Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran), both single, ...
But the question is – why would you want to miss season one? One of Bridgerton's strengths is its inclusive casting. It isn't entirely necessary to watch the first season of Bridgerton in order to follow season two. The Sharma family in season two is of South Asian descent, with their Indian heritage adding a further dimension to their characters. It is the bond between sisters that carries you into Bridgerton's season two – a viewing season for us, and a social season for the characters in the story. The subplots in season two mean we learn more about Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan), who was revealed to viewers last season as Lady Whistledown – the author of a tabloid pamphlet that is both captivating and scandalous.
But before getting into all of that, let's do a little housekeeping. While you're not going to find a bigger romance fan than this reviewer, that doesn't mean ...
While the Viscount is busy with his complicated feelings on love, marriage, and legacy, Eloise (Claudia Jessie) is dealing with her own entry into the marriage market. It’s an absolute joy to see the chemistry between Bailey and Ashley as the season unfolds. Her determination to do what is best for her sister makes her a bit of a martyr, but as Lady Danbury says, “you can’t resign yourself to happy spinsterhood when you haven’t even lived.” For instance, how dangerous it could be for Eloise to begin a flirtation with a working-class intellectual. Undoubtedly, the one-two punch of no Simon Basset and much less on-screen sex this season will frustrate fans. Disappointment awaits thirsty viewers tuning in for a glimpse of Rege-Jean Page. However, season 2 still brings plenty of heat with the addition of Sex Education’s Simone Ashley as Kate Sharma. The peeks into the early days of grief after the death are absolutely harrowing. The second of Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series focuses on eldest son Anthony’s ( Jonathan Bailey) misadventures in the marriage market. Knowing derision from his brothers Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Colin (Luke Newton) and concerned, knowing looks from sister Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) meet Anthony’s constant frustration at Kate’s meddling. The only problem is Edwina’s sister is dead set against the match from the beginning. However, it is also essential to listen and try to understand critical voices. Stories wherein the white characters are a minority–or aren’t present at all–are also vitally important.

Claudia Jessie, who portrays Eloise on Netflix's 'Bridgerton,' talked to Vulture about playing the character and what to expect with season three.
A lot of the women in the show are quite bare and like to show a lot of arms and chest. I would love Eloise to find a clear objective and focus on one thing. Penelope knows how much Eloise loves Lady Whistledown and how much she probably wanted to be her. She talked a lot about how amazing she is and how they should aspire to be just like her. I liked that I got to unsubscribe a little bit and be a bit clumsy. There’s a firmness to the cut and the style of her clothes. I think they should be able to exist and be free and do what they want to do. A lot of us have cried when we watch them perform to the music. She, and also Penelope in a way, are signs of what’s to come. What do you mean I have to do this? Eloise is that beautiful, fresh, young mind who quite rightly is thinking about her right to autonomy and freedom and not to be a property of a man and to want to earn her own money. She’s a sign of what was to come.
Before season two of Bridgerton even premiered, Netflix already renewed the wildly popular series for a third and fourth season.
"And now, as these beloved characters are entrusted to me, I cannot wait to lend my unique vision to the next two seasons. When it came time to pass the baton, I knew this unique voice was vital to the future of the show.” "I feel incredibly grateful to have partners as collaborative and creative as Netflix," Rhimes continued.
