WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange marries lawyer Stella Moris in a small ceremony at the London prison where he is being held.

The 50-year-old Australian, who denies any wrongdoing, has been in the south-east London jail since 2019. For the occasion, Ms Moris wore a lilac satin wedding dress and Assange a kilt — a nod to his family ties to Scotland — which were created by British fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, who has campaigned against his extradition.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has wed his fiancée at a small ceremony in the London prison where he is held.

They maintain he was entitled to First Amendment protections of freedom of speech for publishing documents that exposed U.S. military wrongdoing in Iraq and Afghanistan. They could write to the British Home Secretary in the coming weeks before she makes a decision on his extradition. The dress was designed by British designer Vivienne Westwood, who is among Assange’s more vocal and high-profile supporters.
