Kyrie Irving scored a career-high 60 points, most in the Nets' NBA history, to lead Brooklyn to a 150-108 victory over the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night.

He gave the Nets consecutive 50-point performances, after Kevin Durant had 53 on Sunday against the New York Knicks. Irving shot 20 for 31, including 8 of 12 on three-pointers, in 35 minutes. And prove to every team in the league we can be efficient defensively and offensively.” I felt like he had my career highlight reel in the first 12 minutes of the game. Nets guard Kyrie Irving put together one of the most impressive offensive halves of basketball in recent NBA history during Tuesday's win over the Magic, ...

He appeared to be in a little bit of discomfort with a small cut but stayed in the game after getting his thumb wrapped. Irving said he would be in attendance for Wednesday's game against the Dallas Mavericks at Barclays Center and joked that he would "probably wear a media pass." "But showing up there with my family and getting a warm embrace from New York, Brooklyn, just everybody that's there to support the Nets and support our organization, support me. "Probably the air-ball," Irving said with a laugh. "To be honest with you. It was at that moment he knew his night was different. "Sixteen in the first and then midway through the second all of us on the bench are still looking -- it's just like that every game for Ky, when you look up and, like, 'Damn, he got 10, 12, 14 points already.' By the end of the half, the Orlando crowd was cheering Irving every time he hit a shot, a trend that gained even more energy throughout the game. "But I wouldn't be able to sit up here and talk to you guys comfortably unless I had a big supporting group behind me. Irving, 29, who finished the game 20-for-31 from the field, 8-for-12 from beyond the arc and 12-for-13 from the free throw line, set multiple records with his first-half showing. It was a performance that left both his teammates and coaches in awe. He gets wherever he wants and is able to finish amongst the trees.

Kyrie Irving Reacts to 60-Point Game (unknown)

Putting up 41 points in the first half, joining Kobe Bryant and Klay Thompson as the only players to do so since the NBA began tracking such data, Kyrie ...

The Brooklyn Nets are hopeful that Kyrie can return to full-time status before the playoffs, because each time he sits, this is the player they are missing out on. It was truly remarkable watching what Kyrie Irving was doing, as the Orlando Magic had no answer for him. Tough ones, double teams, triple teams coming, but as long as I can do it with a smile on my face, and my teammates weren't too angry at me, it made this night worth while."

Brooklyn Nets' Kyrie Irving Scores Franchise-Record 60 Points (unknown)

Every night, a new brush with brilliance and another performance to remember. Two nights after Kevin Durant scored 53 points, a week after he had hit for 50 ...

“Somebody told me on the bench what it was,” said Irving. “And I'm just grateful it came in the flow of the game. “I'm sure in the first quarter y'all seen it developing,” said Durant. “Sixteen in the first and then midway through the second all of us on the bench still looking up. Irving had 60, and with that came the end of his night as a road crowd he had converted in the game’s earliest moments shared its admiration. He had 41 points in the first half for just the third 40-point first half since the NBA officially began tracking the stat for the 1996-97 season, with the other two belonging to Kobe Bryant and Klay Thompson. It’s special to watch him every night but it’s special to watch him on nights like this where he’s in total control, total command, gets wherever he wants and is able to finish amongst the trees. “That's a cool stat,” said Durant. “I think you could see that we're both in a nice little groove right now and we want to continue.

NBA scoring onslaught continues as Kyrie Irving erupts for Nets-record 60 points (unknown)

One night after Karl-Anthony Towns sets Minnesota's single-game record with 60 points, Irving matches him point for point to break Brooklyn's mark.

Content to sit back and enjoy the show as well, fellow scoring ace Kevin Durant took only nine shots to finish with a tidy 19 points. Magic fans responded in kind, treating Irving — not exactly the NBA’s most popular player given his ongoing COVID-19 vaccine saga — to multiple standing ovations in appreciation of his record-setting display of skill. Although Irving finished with “only” 19 in the second half, he also played just 12 minutes as the Nets ran away for a 42-point blowout. “When you can get 60 in the flow of the game and you’re not putting up too many bad shots and guys are supporting you, telling you to go after the record, that makes basketball well worth it,” said Irving, whose previous career high had been 57 points with the Cavaliers against San Antonio in 2015. As those free-throw attempts would attest, Irving attacked the rim with his usual aplomb, hitting at least one hanging, spinning layup that seemed to defy the laws of physics. Averaging nearly two points per attempt, Irving shot 20-for-31 from the floor, including 8-for-12 on 3-pointers, and was nearly perfect at the foul line (12-for-13).
