A volunteer who has helped organise an annual Moomba mainstay in Melbourne since 1972 says she still loves the event and plans to continue organising it for ...

“I don’t want to quit. She said the Yarra was still “the greatest amphitheatre in the world”. “I like how families can come down, sit on the banks of the river, have a relaxing day and enjoy the water-skiing,” she said. “Our marvellous Moomba festival would not be possible without the hundreds of incredible volunteers who offer up their time, knowledge and skills to ensure the event is a success,” Cr Capp said. “She cares about the sport and the competitors, and tries to make everyone happy,” he said. Darren Robertson, president of the Victorian Water Ski Association, of which Mrs Hynes has been secretary since 1970, said her contribution to the sport had been “outstanding”. Moomba is more than a fun festival to “Nan Fran”, as Mrs Hynes is known to skiers.

The 2020 Birdman Rally raised more than $110,000. - The much-loved Moomba Parade, starring the 2022 Moomba Monarchs Fifi Box and Peter Hitchener. The parade will feature floats designed in collaboration with radio host Andy Lee and the Children’s Cancer Foundation, as well as 1,500 performers.
